Hibernian derives from the Latin term Hibernia, which means "one who comes from Ireland" or "cold, wet land." The Hibernian Pubs were aptly named, as we wanted to bring a wee bit of Ireland to the Triangle. The Hibernian Restaurants & Pubs celebrate the old world flavor and the new vibrancy of Ireland.
Carrying on with Irish tradition, we offer an atmosphere that infuses the alluring and relaxing nature of an authentic Irish social club and the warmth of a Gaelic home kitchen. All of the locations bring the traditional Irish pub experience to the Triangle. Our dark wood interiors, full of cozy nooks and beautifully sculpted bars will transport you into Ireland.

Services
The downtown Raleigh Hibernian location on 311 Glenwood Ave, was established in May of 2000. It quickly became a staple in the Glenwood South district, a popular dining and nightlife destination in downtown Raleigh for over twelve years. Despite suffering from a devastating fire in December of 2012, we have recently opened our newly renovated doors and are thrilled to be back in the community.
The North Raleigh Hibernian, located on Falls of the Neuse Rd., opened its doors in March of 2013 and just celebrated their one year anniversary! Following in the traditional Irish footprints of the other two locations, North Raleigh offers intimate, dark wood nooks to enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family.
The warm and welcoming environment of Hibernian is the ideal location for a company outing, networking social, family reunion, rehearsal dinner, birthday gathering, fundraiser, or holiday party. The Downtown pub features multiple areas that can accommodate groups of varying sizes from the Green Room downstairs to our spacious second floor and balcony overlooking Glenwood Ave.

After many years I've realized why I don't come here. The service can be good (depending on the day), but the management is the week point, and continues to get worse. Contact to discuss if legit.
It took a while, but I figured out why this place is terrible. They whole building is ran by a random bartender. Not the owner, not the GM, not the shift manager. The place doesn't care about food, service, or a positive experience. As long as the owner makes a buck, good enough.
Edit: The burgers are now McDonald's hamburger patties, paper thin, dry, and disgusting.
Just go elsewhere.

This is a staple of downtown Raleigh / Glenwood South. Here since 1999, they have consistently delivered an excellent experience with friendly staff and delicious food. If you want a well-poured Guinness, this is the place. Food is great, particularly the Reuben, corned beef & cabbage, burgers, and others. The view from the balcony is always relaxing and sometimes entertaining as the Glenwood South crowd flows through.

Went here with my friends to celebrate the end of the semester. I’m vegan and they had a fantastic black bean burger and fries! They even have a separate deep fryer for the French fries to avoid frying in the same oil as meat. The waiter, Eric, was helpful and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and the lights at night were beautiful. Very reasonable prices as well. Can’t wait to come back!

Hibernian is great and our server was great. We will continue to come back of course. However, the servers were struggling to keep up because no management staff showed up to support them. I reckon they all had too much of a blast partying the night before. Food quality was impacted because they were so slammed without support. Mostly minor stuff, except one of our six top didn't get his lox and bagel until we were all done eating. When he got it, there were no capers or cream cheese. There was even a sticker remaining on the red pepper.

Fish & chips! I was really really craving fish & chips and Hibernian was close by so we gave it a shot. We ended up getting 1 fish sandwich and 1 f&c and both were YUM. The haddock was fresh and fluffy, mild flavor and fried perfectly- and was literally hanging off the plate on both sides! Their kind of French fries are my favorite- the wide flat, super crispy outside, burn-the-roof-of-your-mouth hot and soft inside, with salt aaaaand pepper which is delish. They have good specials each night of the week, and service was complete and very fast (it wasn’t super busy, but still). Sorry for the
