The following is a summary of my training and experience in order for you to know if I am the right clinician for your situation. My master's degree is in School Psychology and Special Education from CSUS and my continuing education coursework has focused on special education law, ethical use and interpretation of assessment instruments, mental health of children, child development, behavior analysis, and learning theory.
I completed an intense 15-month certification program in pediatric/school neuropsychology in 1/08 that has significantly informed my philosophy regarding assessment and brain-behavior relationships. This does not mean that I am a Clinical Neuropsychologist, but I do strive to use neuropsychological principles and theory in the development and interpretation of my assessments.

There are less than 1800 licensed LEP's in the state of California, so I would not be surprised if you have never heard of this licensure!
An LEP is authorized by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners to conduct private assessments, provide direct intervention services, to consult with schools and families, as well as make professional recommendations for individuals who may experience learning and behavioral problems, regardless of age.

In order to help your child feel more comfortable, it sometimes helps to see pictures of the location you will visit. Once you have found the suite, you will turn on my notification light in the lobby of our office and take a seat. When I am able, I will come to meet you in the lobby and bring you back to my office (shown below).
Before an assessment is scheduled, a phone interview is conducted to determine the goals, history, and appropriateness of assessment. There are times when you may already have the information you need but may need better interpretation of that information or guidance on how to proceed in obtaining the right interventions.
In order to begin the intake process, I ask that you consider completing the Intake Form which you download on the Contact page and either email or fax the form back so that I can be prepared for our conversation. If you are pursuing counseling or group classes, then the next step would be for me to obtain information about your situation and determine if I would be an appropriate interventionist.
Preschool assessment requires training and experience to be done well! Preschoolers bring unique challenges to evaluation, and I have developed my assessment battery, philosophy, and behavioral strategies in order to facilitate the best measures possible. I use a play-based approach with young preschoolers, and a fun, developmental approach with older preschoolers.
