Prior to moving to Portland, I received my Master's Degree in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon in 2014. During the second year of my Master's program, I worked as a therapist at PeaceHealth Riverbend, providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families at an outpatient pediatric clinic.
Bio: I'm Nate Wilson-Traisman, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in Oregon, went to University of Oregon for graduate school, and have been a practicing therapist in Portland since 2014. I've been involved in the local baseball community for six years, have worked in college admissions at Portland area colleges, and am an avid outdoors enthusiast!
The adolescent years are filled with immense physical, emotional, and cognitive change. While this developmental period is exciting, it can also present teenagers and their parents with new challenges. My previous experiences-as a therapist, high school baseball coach, and teacher-have given me exposure to the unique challenges of adolescence.
People who see me for individual therapy come for many reasons, anxiety and depression to name a few. Also, for some folks, it's helpful to have someone to talk with that can offer an unbiased perspective. Therapy is different than talking with friends/family for many reasons. Mainly, I am an unbiased third party.
Choosing a therapist is hard, especially when you're a parent searching for your child. There are so many websites and online profiles, that it can be difficult to differentiate one therapist from another. With that in mind, here are some of the most common reasons clients hire me, as well as the presenting issues I feel most equipped to help you resolve.

Nate is a caring therapist and colleague, who I lean on regularly for his thoughtful perspectives on families. He’s also unshakably calm and integritous, and I trust him greatly as a reliable referral. Nate is especially skilled in working with adolescents and young adults, given his range of past experiences serving this population as a tutor, coach, and clinician. Grateful for you, Nate!
