Our mission is to bring you the most delicious and authentic Ethiopian cuisine in Phoenix. We named our restaurant Gojo so that you can feel at home. Gojo is Amharic (Ethiopian Language) term for a hut. Gojo is usually used to provide shelter in the ruler side of Ethiopia. These homes are made out of straw, mud and water.
Gojos keep out the cold and can shield families from nocturnal animals. It is also a place where family and friends get together and enjoy their time. So it is a pleasure to welcome you in our Gojo and serve you the most authentic Ethiopian food available in Phoenix. Ethiopian cuisine consists of vegetable and spicy meat dishes served on top of injera, a large flat bread made out of fermented teff flour.

Your tongue will be in for r real treat.
Throats experience gentle heat as the warm embrace extends throughout your body,
Opening the lungs and making it easier to smile.
Food prepared with love and spices brought in from afar, what are you waiting for.
Veggie lovers try the Defen Misir ( Whole lentils ) the berbere is my favorite kinda heat. Even added much more on top.

This is a great and cozy restaurant!! I ordered take out from them and when I went in the staff was so kind and friendly. I have never had Ethiopian food before, but thought I would try something new, and this great establishment did not disappoint at all! I ordered the meat and veggie sampler, meat sambusa, and veggie sambusa (for those who do not know what sambusa is...Like myself up until I ordered it...it is basically a small triangular baked pastry filled with lentils, spices, and meat and/or veggies). They are absolutely delicious! They also come with a hot sauce that has a kick to it, but

What a wonderful 💎 gem.
This family owned restaurant was clean, well lit, comfortable, and offered both traditional and American styled seating. The food was fantastic. My friend grew up eating Ethiopian food, and this was his 2nd time in one week. The drink was served in the traditional glass, and my table was very impressed with the smoothness of the flavors. Staff were wearing face coverings, and were professional and friendly. If you've never tried it, give it a go. Don't be afraid or intimidated. They can answer all of your questions.

Very good authentic Ethiopian food. I got the meat combo and the veggie combo, along with 1 order of veggie samosas. One star deducted because there was no soap in the bathroom, just hand sanitizer, and the injera was cold rather than warm. I would still definitely come back, the food was great! I especially liked the beef wot, and the red and green lentils.

Best Ethiopian food in town hands down.
Full portion meals and authentic and delicious tasting as can be.
My only issue is the owner hasn't made it dine in and restaurants have been dine in since May 2020 last year, even California has been dine in as of June 2021.
Some of has to let the owner know that restaurants are open, I rather eat the food fresh at the restaurant rather than order food to go or pick up and wait to get all the way home to eat it.

This was a lovely change from the norm. My husband and I have never tried Ethiopian food and this was a great way to try it out. While service might have been a bit slow it was still pleasant and very helpful with our language and cultural barrier. Food was delicious, experience was fantastic and in general it was a great hole-in the-wall to discover. Be aware, the combos are larger than you think!
