Services
1871 House is an intimate brownstone building containing a handful of apartments. For more than 20 years, 1871 House has been family owned and managed in the heart of New York City. During these uncertain times, we're hearing Guests are choosing to stay in smaller individually owned properties because it makes them feel safer.
One flight above our entry foyer level is the fully furnished studio suite known as the Front Parlor, or the Parlor Studio. This romantic apartment overlooks a row of East 62nd Street townhouses as elegant as 1871 House itself. Boasting a 12-foot ceiling, hardwood flooring, three oversize lace-clad windows, and a classic fireplace mantle, the Parlor, in all its exquisite pre-war detail, extends to nearly 320 square feet.
One flight up from the house's entry foyer, on the parlor floor level, guests find perhaps the most unique of suites at 1871 House, the Garden Room.
You will be immediately transfixed by the massive floor-to-ceiling bow window which takes up most of the southern wall of the suite, but the real treasure is behind it: the private 500 square foot urban oasis that is the accompanying garden terrace, a truly rare find for an affordable New York City accommodation.

Perfect stay in the Parlor Suite. The location is incredible - safe neighborhood, quick walk to Central Park/museums/restaurants/grocery stores/shopping, and close to two subway stations with different lines (63/Lexington and 59/Lexington). Lia and family were very kind, communicative, and helpful. The house was exactly suited for my needs, and I loved my stay there. Also, it couldn't be decorated any cuter - the house/rooms are adorable. So happy to have found this place. Would highly recommend for extended stays in NYC! (Also, eat at the Tavern across the street before you leave - some of the

Perfect location. So close to the Central Park and the subway station is right at the corner. Love the brownstone neighborhood and the beautiful park avenue. And the best of all, even though it is in NYC, this place is quiet.
I stayed in the rear library suite. The room is beautiful and neat, though it is not slightly different from what the pic shown. The kitchen is small, but has everything I need. The bath room is newly renovated and looks pretty. A lot of closet space too, which is definitely a plus.
The owner, Lia, and her family are wonderful. I got a warm welcome and enjoyed conversation

I could not have asked for a better place to stay while in NYC. The owners are incredibly kind and take very good care of the accommodations. The prime location is an added bonus and makes the experience even more enjoyable. I can't say enough about the 1871 House and I highly recommend it to anybody looking to temporarily relocate in NYC.

Over the years my wife and I have made frequent visits to Manhattan to visit her relatives. In that time we have had the good fortune to have stayed at some of the finest hotels the city has to offer. But few have come close to the caliber and attention to detail we experienced on our last stay at the "1871 House" , between the Upper East Side and Manhattan. It's perfectly located within walking distance of Central Park or the Rockefeller Center. We rarely even took a cab.
The suites are as tastefully decorated as you ever see, and the staff is as attentive as I've ever come across. Do yourself

I stayed in the 1871 House for 6 weeks in the Front Library suite and absolutely loved every aspect of it. The location is perfect, comfortable, safe, and the place is absolutely beautiful and clean! Additionally, those in charge of the house were accommodating and easily accessible. Most definitely recommend staying here!

I am an artist who recently stayed in New York at 1871 House for two months during the run of a solo exhibition in Chelsea.
With two subway stations within a short one or two block distance, the location was incredibly convenient and made getting around NY very easy. With the Upper East Side being a somewhat quiet area in comparison to other areas I have stayed, I never experienced loud noises that might affect sleep during the night. There are many good restaurants and grocery stores very close by. As a woman alone in Manhattan, I always felt safe in the area and the house.

A lovely accommodation in a lovely neighborhood!
We stayed at 1871 House for three nights and were 100 percent pleased. Our room was comfortable, clean, and a true City oasis. It was also very spacious and had a kitchenette and large bathroom.
The location is superb. You can easily walk to Central Park, Fifth Avenue, and Madison Avenue.
The management was readily available and responsive to all of our requests.
I miss 1871 House already!

A new home away from home when in NYC for us. We had a weekend college visit with our
daughter and some friends.
The Lexington Suite was truly fantastic and comfy. The 1871 house is so warm and inviting as was
the entire staff and owner Leah.
Zoe and Stephanie are just truly amazing.
Everything was just as described but actually in person everything surpassed our expectations.
The stairs for us were a welcome work out!
Highly recommend this hidden gem and can't wait to
Come back. A big thank you to Zoe for arranging everything so beautifully!

We first heard about 1871 House from a good friend who has traveled to New York on a regular basis. We wanted to get away from the craziness of midtown so we booked this upper east side accommodation based on her referral. We were very satisfied to say the least. Situated just off Lexington & 62 Street East, it was perfectly located to feel like you were part of the NYC community without all the tourists. Metro options were only a block or two away to whereby you could easily access all of the boroughs. The accommodation was very comfy & the service team were nothin short of 5 Stars. Small grocery

Very quaint, nice neighborhood between Park and Lexington Ave. Very convenient, close to subway, close to a variety of food places and shopping. Stayed in the Mission studio in the basement. Nice size compared to a NYC hotel room, bathroom is pretty small though. There was a spider and a bug in the room but that's expected since we were in the basement level.
You will definitely have your privacy here since it's not a regular hotel. Too bad didn't get to meet the owners though, sounds like they would've had a lot of interesting stories to tell about this historical district

I absolutely love this place!! It's my first time in new York and the room I'm staying at here is so lovely. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it's pricy and there is no breakfast. But it is in a lovely neighborhood, really close to central park and only about a mile and a half from times square. Also around the corner is bloomingdales. A few doors down is a little store for food so you can bring it back to the room to prepare. I really fo love this place, actually wish I could live here since I love the area so much.
