Finding the Serenity to Accept the things you cannot change, Courage to change the things you can, and the Wisdom to know the difference. Welcome to Serenity Professional Counseling, located conveniently in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles. My practice is a personalized, compassionate, evidenced-based treatment to every day life problems & mental health disorders, based in the DBT principle of Acceptance versus Change.

The consistent theme I experience as a therapist is my passion for helping clients achieve their highest potential. I am continuously amazed by the resilience & strength I see from clients who strive to better themselves, do the hard work in and out of therapy, & make the changes they are yearning to see in their lives.
Services
Individual therapy has many benefits and areas of focus, and is tailored to meet your needs. We often find ourselves stuck in old familiar patterns that are challenging to change. Individual work can help you gain insight into ineffective patterns, reframe unhelpful thinking that leads to unhealthy choices and low self-worth, and develop new patterns to meet your needs and achieve your goals.
I am certified in each of the therapeutic modalities below, all of which are evidenced based practices. The American Psychological Association defines Evidence-based practice as, "the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture and preferences."
Seeking Safety was originally created as a guide to those in recovery from PTSD and substance use, and covers many topics of wellness such as healthy relationships, boundary setting, asking for help, red flags, managing anger, grounding, coping with triggers, and many other healing topics.

Seeking Safety can be done in individual or group therapy, and has proven effective in providing coping skills and life skills, even for those who are not in recovery for PTSD or substance use.TF-CBT is highly effective for children and young adults at improving PTSD symptoms as well as other impacts of trauma including symptoms of depressive and anxiety & cognitive and behavioral problems.

I've had the honor and pleasure to know Maggie for the last 4 years both personally and professionally. Maggie is an absolute gem in the field of mental health and wellness. She is genuine, warm, caring, and puts her heart and soul into her work. She is also a highly skilled therapist, trained in many evidenced based practices and able to truly hold space for her clients. As a colleague, Maggie is always ready to help and support her peers and her authentic and empathic demeanor makes it incredibly easy to get to know her and love her. I highly recommend Maggie as your therapist and coach. You
