We had brisket, greens, and Mac and cheese. The other plate was cat fish over rice mac and cheese and greens and bourbon carrots. The cat fish was delicious and the brisket, the brisket was perfect. The greens were a little spicy but good. Good location. Need better ventilation on the patio. Bottom line if you live in the Bixy Knolls, California Heights area give Derricks a try. Real plus Black Owned.

Really wanted to like this place. I always look and want to try new places that I come across. Walked in without even knowing the type of food they were cooking. Turns out it was Texas/Southern type cooking. I'm good with that. I like BBQ, Collard Greens, black eye peas, meat, etc. Tried ordering beef ribs and they didn't have any, ordered something else, also out. Finally settled on tri-tip, Collard Greens and ranch style pinto beans. Pinto beans were good, Collard Greens, where good but spicier than I've ever had before, but ok, the tri-tip, well that was another story, it seemed like it was

This is the best BBQ I've had in California, y'all! Maybe even Texas! Every part of our meal was delicious. The sausages were made with quality meat and perfectly grilled so that the skin is crispy without being burnt, the brisket was tender and juicy without being greasy, the cole slaw and collard greens were fresh yet flavorful, the curly wedges are basically Shakey's mojos at their very best - perfectly fried, and the house hot sauces have taste as well as heat. I even liked the lightly picked red onions! I never like pickled red onions!! I grew up in Taiwan and my family is from Kentucky. I

We the sampler platter with fired pickles, fried green beens, sidewinder fries, a small BBQ meat. It was all delicious and could have been a meal in itself! However we still ordered two meals. Half BBQ chicken… with coleslaw and Mac and cheese, and brisket of beaf with grilled green beans. We attempted to finish but could not. Definitely finger linking good Texas style BBQ. To top it off, a bamd plays om the weekend with tables and chairs out side to enjoy and dance. It was dinner and dance. A pleasant surprise and we are going back to try other food items!

Other reviewers seem to love the food here so we gave it a try for my daughter's birthday. Pick up service was great - brought to my car - but the food... I was raised on southern cooking so I have expectations. The mac & cheese was bland with no cheddar flavor and on the dry side. The deviled eggs didn't seem to have any salt or mustard in the mix and were sitting on top of pickled onions which gave them an odd flavor. The green beans were overcooked (I mean ya that is southern style but there was no bacon to compensate LOL). The pulled pork, which should have been tender, juicy and flavorful

We enjoyed a delicious dinner on the patio. I ordered some ribs, they were incredible. My son had a pulled pork sandwich, he loved it. And my husband had a brisket sandwich. The patio is very welcoming and decorated nicely. The service was a little slow. However, it was so so worth the wait! Will definitely visit again.

Okay we saw this place ever Ties on Facebook and we had to come try it out since it is relatively close to where we live. And it turned out to be fantastic! :-) we had the pastrami sandwich with a couple of size and a couple of beers and some peach cobbler! All of it was really really good they may have quite a variety on their menu of BBQ! Highly recommend this place! :-)
