Gu's Kitchen
Natives of the birthplace of Szechuan cuisine, Chengdu, Szechuan province in southwestern China, Chef Gu, his wife, and his daughter Yvonne Gu bring a combined 90 years of culinary experience to the kitchen. Chef Gu has cooked for a variety of celebrities, including Bill Gates, and was often called upon "to save" struggling Chinese restaurants.

With his unique skill set and experience, he has trained numerous chefs in China and the US. Neither Chef Gu nor his wife uses MSG in the preparation of any of the dishes, as the flavors come from the use of high quality ingredients and masterful cooking skills. After closing Gu's Bistro, which quickly became one of Atlanta's favorite Chinese restaurants in 2015, the Gu Family opened Gu's Dumplings in Krog Street Market.
Services
Chef Gu: A famous chef (Chef Zhu) in China trained me for a few years. When I was training, I had to start off by washing dishes to show Chef Zhu how badly I wanted to learn how to cook. I then moved my way up and became his assistant chef. The training consisted of cooking, baking, and specialty cooking techniques which I use to create dishes like hot pot, Szechuan style Dim Sum, etc.

This restaurant is take out only at the moment. Just a heads up. I didn't know that before going. The thick sweet and spicy noodles were delish. I wish they were a little spicier, just personal preference. I also had the chicken dumplings which were pretty good. Looking forward to going back.

Their dumplings are absolutely amazing, and their chili oil/ sauce is amazing as well. With that being said, the prices are a bit too steep for what you're getting. 2 entrees, a soup and an order of dumplings and it was over $50! The entrees needed more sauce but they were very good. The dumplings were what would make me come back though, I could pass on everything else. Plus, when we stopped in nobody else was there but the woman at the register still seemed annoyed that she had to take our order. Not the best service but they have good food.

Just had them for takeout yesterday. The dumplings were amazing! They were so flavorful and generously coated in their house sauce, and they had the right amount of heat to them.
However, their hot and sour soup was nothing more than a disappointment.. It was diluted and watery and lacked in flavor--so much that I actually ended up tossing it.
So, I'd come back again for the dumplings and maybe try their poboy, but I wouldn't bother with any of their soups.

We moved to the Brookhaven/Chamblee area a few months ago and everyone told us we needed to start trying restaurants off of Buford Highway. Gu's was one of the first we tried and now we don't want to go anywhere else because Gu's is absolutely delicious!
Each time we go, we get the same thing - Chicken dumplings, handmade sweet and spicy thick noodles and General Tso's chicken. Each item is unique, but they all complement each other for a really wonderful meal. We love the sweet and spicy flavors and texture of the dumplings and noodles.
Ordering online is super easy, but we

They’re still doing takeout only. I walked in to order and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. I had the sweet and spicy thick noodles and a Szechuan fried chicken po boy. Both are amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could have this stuff every day!

Ordered DanDan noodle. Small bowl of nood cost me $14 dollars. Was so excited about it, but the noodle was nothing like dandan noodle. I’m from Sichuan, I know how it taste like. Don’t order this one.

The best dumplings! We always get 6 pork and 6 chicken. Get spicier than the regular sauce (but maybe not the hottest one, I haven't tried yet). They are awesome, fresh, and packed full. They also reheat really well.

This place is amazing. Some of the best dumplings ever. I always get the pork zhong style dumplings. I order mine "more spicy" --this being their second level of spiciness, below "extra spicy." More spicy is enough to make me sweat so proceed with caution beyond that. I also like extra peppercorns.
The spring rolls are really good too. They're served with this sweet kind of soy sauce. I don't know what it's called but it's delicious.

I ordered through UberEats for delivery. Me and my fiancé were craving some Szechuan dumplings and came upon this place. I'm not a huge spicy food lover, but this seemed like a good option for those spicy food lovers who have a love-hate relationship with using the toilet; IYKYK. We ordered the handmade sweet and spicy thick noodles, the spicy popcorn chicken, the spicy dried beef noodles (not pictured), and the pork dumplings.

The main thing we wanted were the pork dumplings. One order had 12(?) dumplings covered in a sauce. The fillings inside the dumplings were in my opinion, not enough

I love this place! The noodles are so fresh and chewy. I’m not sure how I can go back to eating anything else. I went on separate occasions and tried different dishes. Whatever you order you won’t be disappointed.

Ordered takeout and got the Handmade Sweet and Spicy Thick Noodles, Chengdu Cold Noodles, Chongqing Spicy Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and Spicy Dried Eggplant.

The noodles were super delicious. Both of them fairly spicy but super flavorful. As a Sichuanese person, I will say the Chengdu Cold Noodles were fairly authentic in flavor. Be sure to stir the noodles as the sauce collects at the bottom - and the sauce is the best part!

The Chongqing Spicy Chicken was definitely spicy and also pretty authentic to the Chongqing flavor. The Kung Pao Chicken was okay - the chicken was a little dry and cubed

We ordered 5 dishes from gu's, which came out to about $85 dollars after tax/tip/delivery via DoorDash. While we initially thought that it was a lot of money, the portion sizes easily equated to about 6 meals. The fried eggplant had a salty hit with a lovely garlic herb topping. The green beans were well cooked with a bit of bite. The other dishes, however were good but not stand-out; while they weren't bad, the chicken/mapo tofu/pork dumplings did not have anything characteristically "wow" or unique beyond other Szechuan restaurants.

I'll be honest, I've only had 2 things from here - those 2 things are the Tea Smoked Duck & the Pork Dumplings. I'll also be honest and say that if those were the only things on the menu, I'd still be there ordering them.

Gu's is legendary in Atlanta, you've probably heard of them and my review here isn't what's going to get you to visit. This location is the easiest to park in all of the locations and has a slightly different menu that the others but honestly it's perfect for me.

Other people here have more to add but I'll say it again.

The Food Network rated Gu's dumplings as the best dumplings in Atlanta and I can't agree more. They are full of flavor, and by far the best dumplings I've ever tried! They are sweet and savory, and very juicy. You can adjust the spicy levels which is always a plus. I've only been twice but my favorite dish from Gu's Kitchen is the chicken with broccoli & cilantro. Paired with their chili oil, and chef's kiss, it gives the food extra dimension! I had to get a whole bottle of it. I do recommend getting a side of white rice since the entrees don't come with some. FYI there's no dine in right now but

*Takeout Review*

Wanting to Asian food for a Friday night, we decided to check new places out instead of roaming to our normal spots. Gu's Kitchen popped up and I went through and looked at their menu and some of the dishes caught my eye.

One thing that did catch my eye was their Tea Smoked Duck and that was exactly what we ordered, along with a few other items. I ordered the dan dan noodles, their sweet and spicy thick noodles, their chicken po'boy, and spicy crispy fish. Yeah, I went a little overboard, but I think I got ones that popped out on the menu for me.

I ordered right through

This was my first time ordering from the restaurant. I ordered the General Tso Chicken, along with the Dried Eggplant and the Bubble Tea. The chicken dish was absolutely delicious. It wasn't as spicy as I normally like, but can always cater it a bit hotter next time. The eggplant was phenomenal. Delicate and flavorful. I've never experienced those types of textures, and flavors combined in this eggplant dish. The only downside is you have to order your rice separately. It does NOT come with the meal. Excited to come back and try some of the other meals on the menu.

I can't even begin to share how much of an affinity I have for this place. I've tried tooooo many things and every time I haven't been disappointed. The dumplings are amazing vegetarian zhong style, it's a must every time I go. The cumin lamb, spicy dried eggplant, spicy crispy beef are my top tops. Other notable recommendations are the po boy, Szechuan fries, sweet and spicy thick noodles. If you're feeling really caveman like, go for the duck- get extra sauce and go ham!

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, especially when they recognize you as a frequent.

This review is for takeout only. We ordered on a Friday night and it only took 18 minutes!

We got Chicken Dumplings with Zhong style sauce (12 for $12), Handmade Sweet and Spicy Thick Noodles ($12), Kung Pao Chicken ($16) and a side of White Rice ($1.5). The Chicken Dumplings were delicious. The noodles were amazing. (We added soft-boiled eggs to our leftovers the next day and it was the move.) The Kung Pao Chicken was really good, but pretty spicy, especially for being only one pepper sign on the menu. I think it's a little ridiculous that the meals don't come with white rice and that

I know we all have our favorite Chinese restaurant for takeout and maybe a different one for dine in, well Gu's Kitchen in Chamblee is my favorite Chinese restaurant for both. I absolutely love the food, customer service, and the fact that they offer vegetarian and vegan friendly meals. If I could I would order from them a few times a week. II first attended Gu's during Chinese NYE at a yelp event and it started me on my experience of exploring restaurants outside of city of Atlanta, epically on Buford Hwy. I've eaten here a few times and now my family is also a fan of GU's
