I've tried 3 different gyms down here since I moved 2 and a half years ago, and this has been my favorite so far.
They've seen me at my best, and also at my worst. I'm a recovering addict so my "worst" times were pretty bad when it came to my looks. And they still treated me the same and helped me feel welcome still.
But It has all different kinds of people going there so doesn't matter where you are in your fitness journey or how far along you are into it, beginner or expert, you always feel welcome at Boulevard. I believe this effect is gifted to us from the welcoming

Cheap fees.
Perfect place if you're looking for dirty floors and restrooms, outdated and broken equipment, and rude staff. The floors have not been swept or mopped in months. Most of the equipment needs padding replaced. I wouldn't shower in the locker room if my life depended on it. The single water fountain has been broken for weeks.
It's also HOT AS HELL in the summer because management doesn't understand the physics behind air flow. Most of the fans are against a wall so they generate no meaningful air flow. There have a few residential ceiling fans in an industrial warehouse space. Again

Love this gym. Were they my saving grace during vivid when all other gyms were shut down . . . But they have the old school hardcore vibe that other big box gyms just can't provide.

Everyone is friendly and helpful, great home gym to have. Love this place!!!!

Last year during the months of lock down, from covid, really sent us spiraling. Many of us fitness seekers lost our daily routine, had lost our mental battle grounds per say. The gyms for many of us are a second home. For my Girlfriend and I we had our ups and downs during the months of lockdown. But when the first parts of that lock down started to lift we looked for places that were opening back up or open already. Even living in Alpine we looked all over San Diego.
Finally finding a gym that was very local, very friendly, and open.
We were grateful beyond belief that the owner opened his doors

After 6 years at this gym, I’m moving on. It has steadily declined in services and friendliness. Towel service is gone, included classes gone, extra space for walking lunges gone, gym equipment still old, steroid filled toxic trainers ever increasing, staff friendliness nonexistent.

Friendly person at reception. Showed me around the gym. Gave me all the options. I chose the month-to-month membership. Didn't want to commit to anything until I'm sure like their gym

I have been a member here for almost 7 years. I enjoyed the spectrum of members of healthy aging (from younger to older). I had lost nearly 70 lbs on Atkins and needed a gym to help me transition off that and into a more normal diet. I got past the no heat in the winter and no A/C during the summer .. again, I enjoyed that there was little to no attitude amongst the members. I had a trainer nearly 5 days a week for almost a year, as I didn't know what I was doing and didn't want to hurt myself ... plus it was VERY motivating to me. Even during COVID, when they were closed or operating

I had to leave a review after reading some of these off the wall Karen reviews on here. Customer service here, if you're a normal respectful human being, is great. And they are great people doing their best in an industry that isn't based around customer service. It's based around fitness and maintaining a space that is safe and working within the legal parameters. Operating a business during this time period and in this state is extremely difficult with changing regulations. If you like to lift, this gym is great for you. The crowds are manageable which is great if you have visited

Overall this is a good, locally owned, no frills, small business and I enjoy working out here. I have worked out here almost 5 times a week for the past 3 months. I usually go around 2:00 PM on weekdays or around noon on a week-end.

They do have a small parking lot in the back with about a dozen spots. I don't have any issues with parking because I go at off-peak times or I can easily find street parking.

These are things that I like about the gym:

- Lots of equipment
- It is seldom crowded, even when crowded there is plenty of equipment to get a workout done.
- It is an indoor

I love training here mostly because of the vibe. It's an ego free friendly community where you can get in and get a great workout.

Nice clean gym. Not too crowded and has a mellow vibe. Good selection of weights and equipment. One thing, I wish they stayed open later, especially on the weekends.

Good vibe about this Gym, new owner keeps up to date with the maintenance of the machines and seems to genuinely care about the members. All the machines you may need to get a great workout and even some punching bags on the top floor. Only bad thing about it currently are the weekend hours. Hope they get extended soon, other than that everything is awesome!

The best gym that I have ever been to. Fantastic Owner and a great staff. Plenty of equipment so you do not have to stay in line. I am 63 years old and lost 45 pounds by working out religiously 5 to 6 days a week at this great gym. If you are looking to lose weight this is the place to go!!

Absolutely love this gym!! Hands down the best gym in the San Diego area! Awesome equipment and even better staff. They go out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. Not to mention the personal trainers are second to none. I also love the energy of this place, it gives you drive to be the best person you can be. They helped me through a lot of troubling times, being an open ear to listen to me. Consider them family!!! Go check it out!

This place has been my therapy. I would give this spot 5 stars but sometimes the restroom is a little dirty and also the parking can be difficult. Other than those two minor things, this place gets the job done! They have tons of weight training equipment, some cardio (the could have more machines) and friendly staff.

I know people on Yelp were complaining about people "texting" on their phones in the gym, but if you look closely, it's actually people looking at their workout lists/spreadsheets. You either have a notebook or a spreadsheet.

Thanks blvd for being a friendly neighborhood

This is a great gym. It has a lot of free weights and various exercise machines. It's a hard-core gym, not a "health club." The only drawback is the parking, which is marginal-not horrible.

Love this gym. I use to be a member at 24 for years and i switched over to this gym. I love the old school machines they have and the awesome grip handle options too. They just recently added an area for just glutes and ive been training w Alyssa there for a few weeks now and wow what a difference. Ive had experienced many different trainers and this gal is detailed to every move and motion that u do. Great gym, great people, im so glad its in my neighborhood. If youre scared about covid just wash your hands and move along. Bc were all here to do whats best for ourselves.

I'm really disappointed in this gym. I've been patiently waiting to see if they would enforce social distancing rules and require face masks since they reopened, but they haven't. I've even emailed them my concerns then requested a refund, but no answer. Yesterday, one of their employees posted a really aggressive post on their Instagram refusing to close. This is a reminder that they are not taking COVID-19 seriously and they are not requiring their members to do so either. I've seen numerous members have similar complaints. Please, avoid this gym! They don't have

First, I completely dislike leaving negative reviews, especially for small and local businesses. However, Boulevard Fitness went downhill and fast.
I've been going to this gym for a couple of years, and my friends even longer. It kind of reminds me of an early 90s gym that hasn't done much updating since. The equipment in grungy, the staff sometimes just grunts at you during checkin, and there's rust and dust in what feels like every corner of the place. But I liked that. The people here are serious weightlifters and sometimes Instagram fitness trainers (it's a little annoying

Their customer service used to be adequate, but they've become completely unreachable by phone, email or social media. There is no way to cancel a membership.

It's a bad enough idea to go to a gym during the pandemic, but getting trapped into a membership for one you can't use is worse.

I never expected such a great gym could be so close to my home! I love the staff and they were warm and welcoming from the first time I ventured inside. The gym and it's members are friendly and considerate of the residents of the area, myself being one!

A few of my friends and I were looking to switch gyms from 24 hour fitness to something else. Ive called them 1000 times, wrote in & have tried to contact them all ways possible and have not been successful. Its sad but it looks like if i have to try this hard just to get a membership i can only imagine if theres a real issue. I will just have to take my business elsewhere. Giving 1 star just off customer service alone. What a shame.

Damn I hate to do this but you know I gotta keep it real.

This gym used to be great. It's straight forward and not overly commercial. No frills with a variety of equipment. A lot of it busted a decent amount of time but still enough to go around.

What I hate is recently there has been a swarm of rude and obnoxious wannabe famous Instagram "fitspos." They film everything and are oblivious to anyone else around them. I've seen them post videos online of other members making fun of them. There have been photo shoots in the bathrooms when old dudes are changing down to their drawers
