Since we opened the doors of Queen Anne Animal Clinic in 1971 we have helped thousands of pets receive the expert attention, treatment, and preventive care they need to lead healthier lives. Dr. Salt completed her B.S. in Zoology and Anthropology from the University of Washington in 2001. She earned her Doctor.
Services
Nestled in our exceptional facility at the top of Queen Anne Hill, we provide a complete list of veterinary services with compassion, quality, and personal attention to cats, dogs, and pigs, too! We provide a wide spectrum of services across all our locations, which are available to any of our patients.
Annual examinations play an important role in patient care management. Many diseases do not produce observable symptoms, making their clinical signs difficult to pick up. An excellent gauge of a patient's health status is weight. Weight changes that are slow or mild are difficult to identify without using a scale.
All our radiographs are evaluated in-house and then sent to radiologists for further review. Radiographs are images produced by x-rays. Radiology is a quick and easy imaging modality that provides details on internal organs and structures. We provide skeletal and soft tissue studies as well as specialized contrast studies.
Our in-house lab is fully equipped for everything from urinalyses to blood chemistry testing. Additionally, we provide comprehensive lab services that are fully equipped and staffed for parasite identification, cytology, and bacterial and fungal cultures. This in-house lab allows us to provide both immediate or same-day laboratory results for many common tests.
A complete pain management program addresses both acute and chronic pain. Here at Queen Anne Animal Clinic, our doctors routinely evaluate their patients for discomfort. We use a pain score system developed by Colorado State University and recommended by The International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.

I just received a letter from the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine, stating that QAAC has gifted a donation to their Pet Memorial Program in Abby's name, which is an extremely kind gesture and helps heal some of the hurt feelings I was experiencing due to perceived ambivalence.

Thank you very much for this amazing gesture.

I had only lived in Seattle for a couple months when my elderly cat became very sick. Many vets in the area were not accepting new patients because of the pandemic and most of the animal hospitals were overwhelmed too. I didn't know what to do, but Queen Anne Animal Clinic got me in. They were FANTASTIC. The office staff was friendly, helpful, and so caring (and my cat is not a nice kitty... especially when he's sick). Dr. Balas was incredible and answered all my questions. He even called the next day and a week later just to check on my cat and make sure he was doing ok (he's doing

Front office staff at this location are barriers to care. My dog has a chronic illness and needed a prescription sent in the morning to a compounding pharmacy so it could be filled before a holiday weekend. It took several calls, tears and blocked calls for them to answer and send it. The compounding pharmacy was very kind and waited all day to receive it. The front office and staff responsible for sending prescriptions or determining appointments do NOT know how to triage. Please teach your staff how to triage as if working in a hospital or ED, be aware of weekend closures and hours that impact

I've been bringing my three cats to Queen Anne Animal Clinic for a few years now and I can honestly say they are wonderful vets. The entire staff is friendly and helpful! My cats have been seen by three of the vets over the years and each one has treated them with such care and compassion. The vet techs are superb. The office staff is friendly and kind.
I'll be moving across the country shortly, and it is going to be impossible to find a vet that compares!

We stopped bringing our cats here after many years, because we can never get in for an "urgent care" visit that doesn't merit a trip to an emergency vet. When the cat has been lethargic and retching for 20 hours, we're not going to wait four days for an appointment, so it's an incredibly expensive emergency visit, which is very frustrating. Many primary care physicians leave a few openings in their schedule every day, specifically so that they can accommodate a few urgent issues that come up, and vets could take a lesson from that. With many vets now, it's either routine

My husband and I have taken all of our cats to Queen Anne Animal Clinic since 2014. Our cats have been most often seen by Dr. Salt but also other veterinarians as well. All the doctors, veterinary technicians, assistants and the front desk staff have been very professional and thoughtful and I could only say good things about them.

In 2019 we lost a cat to lymphoma. Dr. Salt was there to help our Baldrick cross the Rainbow Bridge and we were very much touched by her compassion and care for Baldrick. Every single member of staff was caring and sympathetic to us and they made things a little

Dr. Elizabeth Spencer and the entire team at Queen Anne Animal Clinic is absolutely amazing!

I moved here from Phoenix, AZ with 2 Olde English Bulldogges and I really liked my Vet, so we were sad to say bye.
Since moving I've sort of hopped around to different Vets not really loving any of them until I met Dr. Spencer!
I can honestly say that I love Dr. Spencer even more than any other Vet I've ever met!!

Bringing my babies to see Dr. Spencer is like going to see the beautiful, young version of Gandoff the old wise wizard from Lord of the Rings.. She took her time to thoroughly explain

Fabulous, friendly team. They handled an emergency with efficiency and skill. They clearly love pets, and make owners feel welcome, too. We will definitely go back. Update: my cat is doing great. Thank you!!!

We took our kitty here yesterday for a general check-up and it exceeded our expectations. The QA Animal Clinic was a quick four-minute Uber ride up the hill from our apartment in Lower Queen Anne. It's part of a network of additional clinics which include the Greenlake branch and others.

We had received a coupon in the mail for a free exam, which ended up saving us around $75! But most importantly, the entire staff was very patient and friendly with our cat (who is a sheer terror at appointments!) and very professional too. The prices for each vaccine were very transparent and they also

Wanted to shout from the rooftops how much I appreciate the QAAC team. We've been taking our pets there for years. Our 6-year-old dog, Midge, who NEVER gets sick - got very sick with Gastroenteritis this week. It was miserable for all of us. Emily and Kay helped assess her situation over the phone and got her in to be looked at asap. Dr Schmidt and Christiana took great care of her and by the end of the day, we had her home with x-ray results, meds and a plan to make her better. The over-the-top move came at 8pm that same night when Spencer returned a message I left about pill-giving (Midge

Dr. Salt is absolutely amazing. She has truly incredible intuition and way with animals that is special and extremely important to me. Consultations are done with impeccable professionalism with all options clearly explained and detailed. I would not bring my animals to anyone else and am delighted to have the clinic in Seattle. Absolutely five stars.

Took my 5 month old pup in, staff was very friendly and were eager to walk me through some thoughts on his neutering and adult teeth coming in while they performed the exam and supplied me with the flea and tick. They recommended a screening for his neutering and a flu shot with boosters, which I found agreeable. My hangup comes from when they showed me the estimate for his neuter which tallied up to over $900! Then I also found out that for the visit and flea and tick and the additional recommendations for what they wanted to do, that it would run me $370. I paid $120 for the exam and flea and

I'll start by saying that I have been bringing my two Dogs here since we moved to QA 5yrs ago, so I obviously can't be that disappointed with them since I keep going back. The reason I will only give them three stars is that they are so expensive and every time I go there I feel like they are trying to talk me into doing unnecessary tests to up charge the visit. An example of their pricing would be that when we living else where an annual check up cost me about $100 per dogs with normal vaccinations and so forth. I can't get out of QAVC without paying less then $200 per dog for the

I know we are all frustrated at the rates clinics charge and QAAC is right there in that but for animal lovers that is not where it ends, its the service. As a new cat owner it was so great to be able to write an email to the clinic with a description of what was going on and to hear very promptly that assuming this she is fine, if it goes there, bring her in. I love having the ability to confirm everything is ok without going in for an app where I have to pay for. They are current with today's trend to have that email access and their kindness makes them my fav partner in keeping my kitty

I was refered to Dr. Salt about 4 years ago for acupuncture for my senior english bulldog's arthritic pain and we have been going to Queen Anne Animal Clinic ever since! As you can imagine with an aging bulldog, we are "frequent flyers" and Dr. Salt is our primary vet. My experience with Dr. Salt and recently with Dr. Schmidt has been excellent. Dr. Salt listens to me, trusts that I know my dog and has a warm and caring approach to her work. She has helped me find a balance of addressing pain management without overloading my girl on meds with alternate treatments like acupuncture

Pros: It's convenient to Queen Anne. They are finally supporting online prescription services. Up until last year they made customers visit the clinic to get a printed prescription to fax or mail in to the online pharmacy. I guess it's nice they decided offer what all other clinics have for the last decade?

Cons:
They push additional services and excessive cost on routine visits; Rare we walk out with less than a $200 bill. They insist on multiple visits and expensive testing in order to obtain prescription refills. At other clinics we visit, full blood panels every few months for basic

We have had our dog visit this clinic since she was born, she is now two. This clinic is two blocks form our home, we chose it because we don't have a car. Our dog had an issue today where we could have walked two blocks to at least see if she was ok before we caught a cab to an emergency vet. They refused to see her. We have to take her downtown via cab now instead. I hope the extra time doesn't cost my dog her life. We will never return to this clinic after they turned us away when we needed them most.

Update 8/31/16 - Our dog ended up ok after the episode above after going to a different

My sweet Marcie had been scooting her butt along the carpet so I brought her in to see what the problem was. The two receptionists (1 male, 1 female) were very nice and had a laugh when a 3-year old lab bounded in from outside with no leash on. (Marcie saw him, but he didn't notice her for awhile. Once he did, hoo-boy, his demeanor changed.) One of the receptionists promptly got the energetic dog a loaner-leash.

The technician who showed us to our exam room was friendly and really liked Marcie and pet her for awhile. The vet, Maryam Salt, was courteous, thorough and clearly loves her job
