Backstage at The View From the Bay show, Ann spent time hanging out with Anthony Bourdain from the TV show "No Reservations" and "Parts Unknown." They spoke for hours about their many years in the business. Ann made a scrumptious meal for Spencer Christian and Janelle Wang on San Francisco's The View From the Bay.

Tasty breakfast. I came in a group and all of us were happy with our food. This was recommended by our friends who are more familiar with the area, and I'm glad we took their advice. With the recent surge in covid cases, they had limited seating so we opted for take-out and sat on one of the nearby benches.
The orange-rice pancakes with blueberries were light and sweet, without feeling too sugary. I also got the tofu curry scramble, which was a unique breakfast dish but I enjoyed it very much.
I look forward to coming back, and hopefully dining in when it's safer!

My husband and I often have a dilemma on eating out as he's a meat eater and I'm not. We love a good spot that offers a variety of both options! I had the scrambled curried tofu and it was AMAZING. Husband had the steak sandwich which he loved. Perfect Sunday brunch. Cute little nook location next to the Claremont country club.

Fabulous food plates. I ordered the greens, bacon and cheese omelet with rye bread. Rye bread was sooo good, the omelet was delicious, savory, and the bacon was lean and not overcooked. Potatoes were excellent. Only suggestion is to add different hot and mild sauces so customers can spice appropriately to their tastes. Service was always available and they have stringent Covid protocols in place, including proof of vaccination. Cudos for that.

I understand it's still COVID times, but this restaurants method for ordering + seating is well, kinda stressful. When you're table is ready you then have you place your order at the host stand and pay immediately before sitting and settling at your table. No time to take a moment, relax, sip some water, maybe even order coffee first. No, order and pay NOW. We were a party of 3, and they sat us at a 2 top as well (without asking if that was ok) and thankfully we were all close friends, but damn, that table was SMALL for the three of us. Food came crazy fast, which I guess is good? but

Great area with a very pleasant, but downgraded setup that has benches to sit and wood tables like a park. The service is excellent and the servings are big, can barely fit on the plate. The food was good, not great, but I liked it. The old homeless guy outside playing the guitar, actually played a lot of good songs that I enjoyed as well and have him a tip for that

During the pandemic I have relied on take out from this restaurant. It's been safe and great. I recently brought a vegan friend for brunch, and staff responded immediately with vegan and menu offerings that would fit the bill. Great tofu scramble. Today for the first time I ordered the Veggie Portobello sandwich for takeout. Fantastic. Rick and Ann's is a great place. They support their staff and in every way their care shows. Highly recommend for brunch, takeout, bake goods, and take home evening meals.

Really like this place. Some meals are better than others, though. Any of their baked goods are amazing, though their waffles are more Eggo than Belgian. But I had their Autumn hash yesterday and it blew my mind, so your mileage may vary. It's pricy and the wait can be long, so figuring out your go-to is worth it if you're going to go repeatedly.

I don't understand why there is no longer any table service here except to deliver your food. The restaurant requires showing a vaccine card and masks but there are no waiters....I'm confused why we are standing in line ordering at the take-out counter now. The ambiance is non-existent. I can't imagine waiting in line here for brunch on a weekend.
The food options are very limited and the quality just mediocre. I miss the chili and the quesadilla. A disappointment in September 2021. I haven't been here since 2019 so clearly the pandemic has affected Rick and Ann&apos

This was our first time here and we will jot be going back. When we arrived there was a slight wait and they took down our names. After about 15 min they called us in and then told us we had to order and pay before being seated. Would have been nice to know that and look over the menu while we had been waiting.

You get one star from me simply for the discrimination. I wish I could give less, honestly.
Berkeley is a melting pot of diversity and to be treated like we were today is outright wrong. We were the only people asked for proof of vaccination and she rudely added that they would be checking IDs/to match the cards as well. Like, ma'am... really?!
Mind you, this was not said to the white couple in front of us or behind us.
We are absolutely vaccinated but after that experience, who'd want to prove they have the right to spend THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY with you. You literally looked at

I meet my kids in Berkeley during the school year every other Friday for breakfast, and this is one of our go-to favorites. We haven't eaten here since quarantine, so it was a treat to be back. The food was as good as ever, large portions, and the food really hits the spot. We recommend cooking the hash a little longer, just to get a crisp on the potatoes, but the eggs over easy were done perfectly. My Greek omelette was oh so tasty and so was the Caesar salad. This is such a cute spot! Stumbled upon this restaurant while staying at hotel across the street. When entering, the hostess takes your order and you pay first. The menu has so many tasty choices. Food comes out quickly and perfectly. As a matter of fact, we are here all three days we stayed at the hotel. If ever in the area again, we will definitely return.

One of my favorite places to work during lockdown is the seating area outside Rick and Ann’s. I usually pretend that I’ve just had an expensive game of tennis at the Claremont Hotel and am doing some Important Work before I hop into my hybrid SUV (sometimes it’s an… imaginary Tesla). Other times, I put on a blond wig, baseball cap and shades and pretend that I’m Taylor Swift on a low profile retreat at the Claremont. I might sing or hum a little bit of Invisible String as a finishing

Lunch of meatloaf sandwich with french fries was delightful. DELIGHTFUL. I was surprised by how much I was raving about my meatloaf sandwich and the side of fries.
We used to come here for weekend brunch before the pandemic, but now I've found Rick & Anne's for the meat loaf (3 slices to reheat for dinner, or a meat loaf sandwich for lunch).

I was looking for a highly rated breakfast place around the Lawrence Hall of Science and this fit the bill. I had trouble finding the entrance since I thought the corner would be the entrance. I went to the side and realized I was wrong again. I found the right entrance and since I was by myself, I was seated at a community table with other singles. The waitress was quick and professional. My food came out quickly. It was very delicious. I can see why it's popular. The fries are actually potato cubes.
