In 1982, Summit Apartment Management Co., Inc. was founded by the former Deputy Director of the Housing Authority of New Orleans after identifying a need for specialized property management of the affordable housing being developed. Summit's founders were ready to retire after developing the first bond-financed, affordable senior housing project and several affordable, multi-family communities.
