Services
Dr. Messina, originally from Brazil, has been living in central MA (Hudson) for over 15 years. Her husband has lived here his entire life. As a result, her extended family and friends are from Shrewsbury directly, or very close by in neighboring towns. She has practiced dentistry for over 5 years right in the heart of Shrewsbury, MA, which is why, when she decided to open Songbird, Shrewsbury was the most logical choice for the location.
We are a dental practice in the heart of Shrewsbury, MA. You are a unique individual with a unique oral health history. As a result, you need a unique dental treatment plan. From prevention to restoration, to a full cosmetic makeover, the Team at Songbird Dental has you covered. The services we provide revolve around the four main components of a comprehensive dental care plan.
Dr. Luciana Petto Messina (the c is pronounced like an s) was born in Brazil where she graduated from Pontifical Catholic University with a dental degree and practiced all levels of dentistry for several years. She was deeply involved with organizations that provided dental care to under served communities.
Marie Troy is an integral part of the Songbird Dental team with over twenty-eight years of experience practicing dental hygiene in Shrewsbury MA. Throughout the years, she has forged good relationships and developed a loyal following of patients who think of her as family. She is personable and warm with a keen ability to connect and understand the needs of her patients by listening, empathizing and problem-solving.
Taking care of your smile at home is important. By brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily, you can largely prevent excessive plaque and tartar buildup, and consequently prevent the issues that arise from it (like cavities and gum disease). However, home oral hygiene only goes so far.

I am new to Songbird Dental and I am really impressed. It is very clean and the staff is very professional. Dr. Messina put in a new crown (my 7th or 8th) and it was by far the easiest and most comfortable crown I gotten. I would give Tammy, Caitlin and Dr. Messina 7 stars for their work. I love Songbird Dental.

Upon my first call to Songbird inquiring for a new dentist for a broken tooth, Susan answered all of my questions and immediately put me at ease. Dr. Messina and her team are a team of professionals that eased all of my anxieties and fears of the dentist. The confidence that Dr Messina showed me with her dental techniques to fix my tooth were exceptional. Everything was thoroughly explained in detail to fix my tooth, including the insurance paperwork. Oh my goodness! Talk about TOP NOTCH quality Service. These guys are amazing. I did my research and read all their online reviews before going in, I was cautiously optimistic going in on day one, and boy was I blown away, from the receptionist, the hygienist, and most importantly Dr. Messina (Dentist), they all delivered. I walked away vowing to refer all my friends and family to them. These guys are the real deal, don't hesitate to go see them! You will leave there with a happy smile, I can guarantee you that!

You can tell that every member of the staff enjoys their job and their professionalism, attention to detail, and skill was comforting and totally put me at ease! I have been getting my teeth cleaned by Marie Troy, for over 25 years now. Marie had been at another dental office in Shrewsbury for 28 years, but when it was sold she made the decision to join the new team at Songbird Dental. I knew her prior dental office had been sold, but had no idea Marie had left. Thank goodness Marie and I shop at the same grocery store because that is how I found out.
