Cat & Dog Hospital Of Portland
After more than 15 years of serving the cats of Portland, OR, we are now seeing both cat and dog patients due to the increasing pet care needs in the Sellwood community and beyond! We will continue to provide a quieter, slower, and calmer approach to veterinary care. You will still see the same familiar faces, along with a lot of new ones, that are just as committed to providing your pet with the most inclusive and comprehensive care possible.

The entire philosophy at Cat & Dog Hospital of Portland is built around the importance of creating and nurturing trusted relationships with our clients. This is the most valuable asset we have as it's the foundation to practice the best possible veterinary medicine and surgery. Every aspect of our veterinary animal hospital is designed with the nature of the cat and dog in mind.

I am so happy they have started seeing dogs. We recently adopted a rescue who is very anxious and fearful and the staff was great with her. They are very prompt at responding to my questions and were very up front about final costs before proceeding with any treatments. Definitely recommend!

Took my cat into the hospital today for a new patient exam. They were on time, thorough and very helpful. I was impressed that they were really communicative and very caring towards the cat. They did not seem at all rushed, even in this busy time. Earlier in the week I called with a question and they promptly returned the call and had lots of good suggestions. I feel so lucky to have this business in the neighborhood!

This place had a cancelation and got me right in. They were friendly from the start on the phone to end of the visit at check out and pay. The Veterinarian did a health certificate for me to travel from Bellingham, Washington to Alaska. It cost $140.00 out the door. The Veterinarian answered all my questions unrelated to the trip or health certificate, and I didn't feel rushed. I felt like I was talking to a family member, he was so nice.

I went to this establishment 1 time and was treated relatively fine. Typical Doctor saying we need something and asking for a lot of money. Nothing wrong there, but the second time was different. My dog started nipping and tearing out her hair near he butt. I didn't know what was going on, so I called the vet to try and set up an appointment. I got immediate attitude and snapping from the person I was talking to. They told me that it was most likely flees. Then proceeded to say "That is flees. What have you don't for this dog?" in the most condescending tone. I proceeded to say that I haven't done

Brought my kitty for a checkup to make sure he's okay and he broke it down for me to help Eeyore out with ichy skin. Staff was excellent and it wasn't too expensive. Thanks Dr. Steve!

We have taken our two cats here for 13 years. Clearly we are pleased with their care. The doctors snd assistants ALL are very caring and thorough in their exams. They treat the cats as if they are very special (which, of course, they are 😂). We recommend the C&D Hospital with complete confidence.

The angels at this cat-only veterinary hospital are the best people ever. I adopted two senior cats last year, knowing that I was also adopting their aging health problems. Cat Hospital has been kind and thorough with their car and works hard to make sure I’m informed and prepared for any care they need. I have experience both regular/preventive care visits as well as emergency care visits and I’ve been very pleased with their service and the overall experience.

Rude Receptionist!
So here is what happened to Karen over the weekend: my mom's cat ran out of his thyroid medicine. I called to see if I could get a refill. She said he has to come in for bloodwork. (We were just in there in there 4 months ago, and once in) I asked if I could just get a refill. The cat has a really hard time coming in, he vomits,… pukes and poops on himself. She said since his thyroid is not at the level we want, he needs to come in. I said okay, I can come in then. The next appointment available was 5 days away. I asked if I could get a refill of his thyroid medicine to

I got a same day appointment when my cat was having GI issues, which was awesome. On a Saturday! I arrived 15 min late due to traffic and some problems getting my baby into his crate, and they saw me anyway when I communicated with them prior. Today we saw Dr. Gadwood. Last time Dr. Shover. Both are so kind, friendly, and compassionate. The techs are also wonderful. I've been here only twice but both times have been positive.

I have waited to review this place for a few months because the experience we had was so horrible. We had just adopted our senior kitty and she got a perfect bill of health from the very trustworthy shelter. We needed to establish care with a vet, because she was on special prescription food and we were going to need more soon. We had only had her for about a month but we had bonded with her pretty fast.
I'll say that the atmosphere was great- no loud noises, calming scents, and our cat wasn't freaked out. Until the vet checked her ears, and said they were dirty and needed cleaned and

If you're cat is your child, this is the place I'd send you.

The experience was very positive. The staff was very comforting and understanding. They were very reasonable and didn't recommend unecessary treatments.

A few things I thought stood out:
-it was very quiet. We heard one cat scream a little but the assistant being very calming towards it and whatever they were doing.
-rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the light shining through the glass block.
-there was a plug in pheramone in the room that helped calm our cat. I could tell!
-got checked in right away and didn

I just moved to Portland almost a year ago and was stressing about finding a good vet for my cats, specifically because one has so many medical problems. I started with Cat Hospital of Portland and will never switch! All of the staff are so nice and really do care about their patients! Dr. Korf is who my kitties see, and she has been their best vet yet! She goes above and beyond, even graphing my cat's blood values for me so that we can see his progress. She also keeps herself up to date with veterinary medicine findings instead of being stuck in the 90's so has given my cat's

Thank you for being a true ethical & humane Cat hospital! It’s refreshing to know that your hospital does not declaw cats, that you put the health & total wellbeing of your patients first. Thank you!

I sure hope they have changed their mode of operating. About 8 years ago, I had some of the worst experiences at a vet office. Resulting in my cat dying and discovering I was grossly over charged. When a second senior cat became ill, I switched vets. And she lived for years. For the sake of cats, I hope this clinic is less focused on the money and cheating people and focused on providing quality care. Horrible place.

If you need a cat-only clinic in Southeast, this is the place to go. The vets are excellent, but I want to give a special shout-out to the techs, all of whom are exceptionally skilled and very loving, even toward cats who are difficult or just scared to death, like one of mine is.

This is the best vet I've ever experienced.
Our cat is a nightmare at the vet and they don't make us feel unwelcome or guilty about his behavior. Finding them has changed our lives!

Best vet I have been to! The staff are wonderful! They do indeed provide compassionate healthcare!! No fur baby likes a trip to the vet, but they made it as painless as possible with pheromone diffusers, soothing voices and gentle handling.

I am so impressed with this business. My cat Wilson is almost 9 and absolutely hates the whole experience of the vet. By the time we have arrived, he's already on edge from the car ride and has a low steady growl going. Because my sweet baby cat turns into a wild demon when scared, Wendy, the receptionist, let us into an exam room early to wait separately from the other cats. She's great.

He screams--the "you just stepped on my tail" scream --except that no one did and it's blood curdling. Needless to say, he doesn't allow vet care staff to get very close to him

Today was our second visit to the Cat Hospital of Portland. I woke up in the morning to find my beloved Cyril showing frightening symptoms of--something. I called the Cat Hospital, and even though we had no appointment, we were being welcomed within three hours. Cyril was given wonderful, careful attention from everyone involved. When I got emotional, all the clinic staff members seemed to understand absolutely.

Both times we've been to the Cat Hospital, the experience was as good as a vet's can possibly be. The doctors, the admin staff, the vet techs--everyone is expert at what they
