Services
Dr. Felton grew up in The Dalles, Oregon. She earned a BS in Biology from Western Oregon University in 1998. She worked as a veterinary technician all through her undergraduate studies, and again while in veterinary school. Between undergrad and veterinary school, she spent four years working with Canada geese, Chinook salmon and desert tortoise.
At Grateful Heart Veterinary Hospital we welcome new clients and patients with open arms into our state of the art facility where your pet will receive expert care from our Fear Free certified staff members. We offer comprehensive care, wellness plans, rehabilitation services, digital radiography, surgical and dental services.
If your pet needs medical assistance, you can feel confident turning to us. Our knowledgeable staff and modern facilities are equipped to handle a wide variety of medical conditions, including emergencies. Because we can perform many diagnostic procedures in-house, we can often give you immediate answers and start treating your pet faster.
Our experienced veterinarians provide many surgical services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. Because we want to ensure that our patients receive the best possible outcome, we occasionally refer them to specialists (board-certified veterinary surgeons) to perform complex operations when advanced equipment or training will be beneficial.
Making sure our patients remain safe during surgery and other medical procedures is extremely important to us. Our team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians is skilled in using anesthesia and monitoring patients to ensure their safety and provide the most comfortable experience. Anesthesia and patient monitoring vary greatly from clinic to clinic.

We sought them out because we had worked with Dr. Felton at another office before opening Grateful Heart and she was so sweet with our pets. She also always took her time with answering questions and going into more detail and embodies someone who loves their profession. It was totally worth waiting several months to get the first appointment and establish care and we've been so well taken care of since.

It’s hard to put into words what Dr. Felton and her team mean to me. Dr. Felton has been my veterinarian for almost 10 years, and has helped me navigate some difficult situations with my cats. She leads with her heart and always takes the time to help you understand what is going on with your pet. Her patience astounds me. I know there have been times it probably would have been easier to rush me along, but instead, she listens and allows me to express every concern or question I may have. Dr. Felton, Alex, and Amber (and the whole team whose names escape me right now) are truly some of the most incredible human beings we’ve ever been lucky to meet. We have two dogs that have very different personalities and needs, both that are typically extremely wary and anxious when going to the vet. My bulldog, Fynnah, completely relaxed around Dr. Felton. Alex and Amber have also being so supportive and helpful while my partner Jess and I navigate cancer treatment for our other dog, Stella. Dr. Katy and the staff at Grateful Heart are amazing! Our dog did great for her first visit and she received top notch care while we waited curbside. We've known Katy and Alex for a long time, since about 2006. They are very warm hearted, caring people. And they love animals, caring for as many as 5 pets in their own home. What more can you ask for as your vet? Our miniature Poodle, Onyx, needed treatment after getting bitten by a bigger dog, and even though they were very busy, they found a way to fit him into their schedule and take great care of him. During the ordeal, they were incredibly professional and caring, calling and emailing to make sure we knew everything that was going on with him. They took away so much of the stress and worry
