Ken & Barb's Grove City Kitchen is a large restaurant located on Oyster Creek in Englewood Florida. Formerly the location of the Blue Lagoon restaurant which was popular in the early 2000s and then sat empty for many years. The owners completely refurbished the entire restaurant in 2019 for an early 2020 opening.
Inside you'll find reclaimed wood finishes, old corrugated tin detail and whitewashed columns. Outside you can eat and drink at the picnic table style bar overlooking the lagoon, relax on the patio style couches under the outdoor tin roof or play a game of bocce ball out front. Ken & Barb's is chef owned and offers a pub style menu with lots of apps, sandwiches, soups, salads, burgers and more.

Services
Fresh fried tortilla chips served with your choice of pico de gallo or black bean corn salsa. House smoked fish dip, served with capers, red onion, chopped dill and marinated cherry tomatoes. Toast and crackers. Refried black beans served with queso sauce, fresh salsa, pickled jalapenos and a bowl of fresh fried corn tortilla chips.
Ken and Barb's can hold your special event here. Work party, business meeting, special event or just a group of friends watching your team win. You can order off the menu, have a buffet or work with the chef and managers to create your perfect event. We were driving back to Miami and while in the road we started to get hungry. On Yelp we found this attractive restaurant with solid reviews. For me what stood out the most was how on Yelp it's categorized as a seafood restaurant by the water.

Going back Sunday , for more and live music !
I was hesitant to order from the entrees because the menus was large/ but my salmon dinner was delicious!!!!!!! My husband was very pleased with his dinner - we also had an appetizer , dinner salads nice and fresh , Waitress was friendly and professional,

The wait staff were excellent, pleasant and attentive. The food was not very good. We ordered tortilla chips with pico and guacamole. The Guac was excellent, the pico, ok and the chips, well, some were not completely cooked. We also got a roasted veggie salad. The veggies were so so, the mozzarella was not very fresh, and the tomatoes tasted a little off. We also go a fish sandwich, which, while generous in size, was award-winning in blandness. I placed a "to go" order for: a Mushroom Swiss Burger cooked medium-well on a grilled bun with lettuce and tomato, and Paper Thin O-rings as a side.
What I had to eat when I got home: a mostly raw burger, on a soggy, blood-soaked bottom bun. The O-rings had a good flavor and I might have enjoyed them more if I didn't have to cook my meat before eating.
The listed price on the online menu at the restaurant's own website was $11.99; I was charged $12.99. I know it's only a dollar, and that's not a big deal, but the attitude of the manager

We enjoyed our dinner tonight and would rate the food very highly. Restaurant is new, nice, clean, and open. Service from Kristine was excellent, she did her job well, fast, and was not intrusive so we could enjoy conversation between the members of our table. We like wait staff like this. We have been here a few times and it’s consistently good. We will be back. Thanks.

After 4 years of coming to Englewood on vacation we finally found the best restaurant in town. Not fancy or showy but just solidly good food. One thing I wouldn't order again was the chicken tenders off the kids meal for my son because it was very plain. But other than that we've been back twice this week!

I had the haddock with roasted vegetables and house salad. Good salad in a tiny bowl! Better haddock with nice creamy sauce. Not a huge portion but delicious. Shrimp and grits good. Had round cheesecake for desert. 1st time here was Reubens sandwich for lunch. Thumbs up. Good atmosphere. Ate outside!

We decided on here while on vacation and staying close by. The wait was 45 minutes, which was actually an hour. When we were seated our server was very friendly, but, spoiler alert, basically forgot us and all of our orders because about 3 things were wrong. She took our drink order and forgot who ordered what. She took our food order and forgot my husbands completely (we think, or, when another person was bringing our food out, one persons meal flew onto the floor, no idea whose meal it was). Great local place. Great food spectacular atmosphere. Make sure you check out the artwork that's on the walls. Plenty of TVs to watch the games.

The environment is really pleasant. It is in front of the road, so a lot of cars passing by, but even outside is nice.
As always burger, no salt at all in the meat but nothing wow also.
Crab cake was ok.
The mushroom inside the pastry was good, with the salad and the sauce, was the best of all 4.
Salmon burrito, ok, but too much salad and dough, and almost nothing of the salmon.
Staff were friendly.

All of the items were very good! The fish dip was delicious. Not too smokey or fishy. It was mild but a very nice balance of ingredients. Served with all you could need, freshly chopped dill, cherry tomatoes, capers, red onion, crouton and bread. Felt like something from a deli up north. Well done on this easy to messup dish!

We were out to find an anniversary dinner spot and chose this based on reviews. We were vacationing this week and have tried to go to several local spots. We were seated immediately (we went at 5). Our server was prompt and attentive and made great recommendations. We took her advice for the garlic and honey glazed salmon and the shrimp scampi. Both dishes were delicious. We left with a Snickers cheesecake slice and are it later--really good.

Our first visit to aLen & Barb's, we have been looking forward to it! I was by on my bike often last year as they were doing construction. Great location on Oyster Creek, visit the paths on the environmental park while you are there. Plenty of outdoor seating on the creek with lots of space between the tables. I assume Ken and Barb are New Englanders with the menu, such as clam fritters. Nice beer selection as well!
