Mark Szabo was born and raised in New Jersey. He attended and graduated from Georgia Southern University. While in college he made the great decision to major in hospitality. His very first job in the restaurant business was at Burger King making a whopping $3.35 hr. He was discovered by a customer while working at Burger King and recruited to wait tables at a popular seafood restaurant.
Our steakhouse is by far one of the best in Newport City, Oregon. We have some of the best steaks you have ever seen; steaks which are tender, tasty, and juicy. It is also good to note that our beef is always graded by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspectors so as to ensure that we offer our esteemed customers nothing but the best.

Some of the best seafood I've had in years. Excellent crab cakes, homemade chowder that has plenty of actual clam in it! Tastes like Moe's did 20+ years ago. I had the Captains Platter. The fish is definitely not frozen from some online store
I can't say enough good thing about this place.
2 people,full dinner, 2 drinks and it came to $50.
I've spent more than that for way way worse food.
10/10, and have already recommended to several people

We early for dinner because we were told it gets crazy busy. It was perfect! Not busy yet. The food was absolutely awesome! My husband had (his words) a perfect steak. Mom had halibut fish & chips(so much food she brought half back to our hotel! ) and I had clam chowder creamy and wonderful! The waitress was very attentive and the prices were reasonable. And dessert was devine! Do yourself a favor and have a meal at Szabo's!

We were surprised at how good the food was for such reasonable prices. My wife ordered prime rib and I had the crab fettuccine Alfredo. I ate half of hers and she ate half of mine. We were both very pleased with both entrees. Beer and wine prices were reasonable as well. The food quality was not a Ruth Chris, but was certainly comparable or better than a Cattleman's or Outback. We will return.

For many years I have been going to Szabos on Tuesdays for Rib-Eye. Of all the times, I have never been let down, and I go pretty often.
Mark, the aging tattooed gen-X manager in shorts, has had to reduce the rib-eye size from 18 to 14oz, and a few months ago, he had to eliminate the soup/salad option, but he has managed to keep the price the same!
$13 Rib Eye only every Tuesday. Reservations strongly suggested as Szabos packs out on Tuesdays.
We always top off the Rib Eye with the $8 Mile High Mud Pie..enough for 3 or 4 humans.

This was our first time to Newport, and this was the first restaurant that we went to, and there was no disappointment. We were served drinks quickly, which was great, as this place was busy.
I started with clam chowder, and I ordered the crab Alfredo, and my husband ordered the seafood pasta fettuccine.

SeaFood is super good. We ordered the orange basil salmon, captains plate,crab cakes,halibut fish and chips. Extremely fresh and incredibly tasty!! Also we've tried the tiramisu which was really, really good.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with everything we've asked. Inside and outside very clean!

We have lived in Newport for a year and finally made it here for lunch today. Delightful! Casual atmosphere, plenty of parking (no tourist crowds on a summer Saturday afternoon) and the food was great. Huge Reuben sandwich for me and delicious Italian sausage sandwich for my wife. Good beer selection and topped off by a delightful waitress who was kind, funny and attentive. They seemed fully staffed, which is a rarity these days. Looking forward to returning soon!

Okay.....made reservations and arrived right on time, we were promptly seated asked for drink orders and taken care of by our fantastic server. We ordered appetizers and steaks with shrimp and the kiddos got spaghetti. The kids ate their food super fast and loved everything about their meal as well as the environment and decor. We had a hicup with our jalapeño poppers being ice cold; after pre reading reviews we simply mentioned it and a new pipping hot order came out! I did also try the oyster app as I looooove oysters and they were not edible. The steaks and shrimp however were absolutely amazing

I love this restaurant! I have here several times before and make it a point to stop here when I'm in Oregon. I drove by last night and knew I wouldn't get a table, so I'm here for breakfast. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the bacon is thick. Very good bacon.
The restaurant itself is rustic with a large menu. They also have nightly specials. Mark, our server is fun and attentive.
My husband is jealous that I'm here with my mom and not him. Lol

On vacay I always love a local spot...being so close to the beach, in a beach town I'm thinking seafood! Szabo's Steakhouse and seafood was the recommendation, so that's what we do. The look outside resembles a steakhouse, rustic, wooden, old signs. I don't smell steak though, weird.

We have to go to Szabo's whenever we are in town. It's not Michael Jordan's and that's why we like it. The steak is always cooked spot on, if you like it rare you can get it actually rare. There is always something fun. Last night , Valentines Day, we saw a couple celebrating who had been together 60 years. Made our night well that and the food, and the drinks, and you can get Bud light , and the key lime pie.
It's not the ritz it a good old fashioned steak house!

Since it was our first time in Newport, we really wanted the visit to be special. We had some amazing meals, but this was our last before we headed home after an extended weekend stay. Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. Our visit was Nov. 14th, but so many things about the night just kept eating at me, so I needed to leave my review.
Yes...I'm well aware that things have changed a lot due to the pandemic. But after more than six months and another shut down just around the corner, I think is plenty of time to make changes that need to be made in any business to succeed.

A few years ago I would have given a 4 star. (Didn't rate them then). Today, 3 stars.
The sautéed halibut "pieces" was "fishy" and the salad consisted of slightly brown iceberg lettuce and little more.
Now, every place can an off day but what made me go with the lower rating was the bathroom. Webs and spiders everywhere. Now , I don't mind bugs but this was pretty bad and makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen.
Enough said. But I definitely left disappointed from the last time I was here. Will think hard about coming back.

Stopped in for chowder! No disappointment! We called to take out and asked how crowded they were. It was slow so we ate in. Due to vivid we have to be careful and she gave us a table in a private room! Had a beer and house wine both delicious. Shared a dinner fish and chips and chowder. All were steaming hot delicious and plentiful. The waitress was wonderful. Highly recommended. Free WiFi.
