Therapists have many orientations to the space of therapy. Some take a more medical-approach, like symptom-reduction, or looking at things from a mental-illness/mental-health model, and may have specific training in how to diagnose, support with medication-management, etc.
Some therapists take a behavioral approach, and look at the work from a place of behavioral modification-offering concrete, solution-oriented support in facilitating measurable change. Some therapists utilize creative tasks and interventions as ways to deepen, or access less conscious, more emotional parts of one's person.

I am a year and a half into practicing as a therapist, and just month's into a Master's degree, but I'm no stranger to therapy from the other side of the room. My father died when I was six, and I've spent my life leaning into the supportive space of therapists, each one offering something unique. One played chess with me as we talked about death at eight years old.
The last few months (feels like years) have been a series of constant changes in how we do pretty much everything. The biggest change for many is the new task of working completely from home during a pandemic. If you are like me, you never really planned to work from home ever! Being a therapist in-person work is what I have always wanted to do.
Anger is an inevitable and normal human emotion and typically shows up when we are feeling scared, anxious, or sad. Sometimes, anger surfaces because we need to feel protected. Other times, anger attempts to help us get something that we need. Feelings of worry and anxiety are normal and inevitable parts of the human experience.

My husband and I have been going to see Ryan for couples therapy for over 3 years. It has truly been one of our biggest assets as a couple. Both my partner and I have had negative experiences in the past with therapists, but this has been a VERY different experience. We feel so validated, cared for and heard. Ryan is the business owner and we’ve seen him work very hard to build a team that he is proud of and that represents his values and ideals as a business owner and a therapist, and it shows! We’ve only ever epeked personally with Ryan, but since he is in charge of bringing everyone else

My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years and we’ve seen Ryan every week for more than a third of that time! It’s wonderful. We have grown and changed our relationship in so many ways and we’re excited for therapy each week. We trust Ryan whole-heartedly and respect his methods; his ways of showing up for us, listening, validating, working through what comes up for each of us, etc is so authentic, inviting and impactful. We’re very grateful for our time with him!
