Back in 1981 Bruno's opened in what was once Portland's Little Italy by owner and founder Bob Napolitano. The tiny bar was tucked into the corner of Micucci's Grocery on India Street, where Bob sold only bottled beer and steamed hot dogs. In 1985, the growing business moved further down India Street to a larger location, where the kitchen was finally established.
Bruno's was the first kitchen in Portland to serve calzones. The steak and cheese sandwich, pizzas, and linguini with clam sauce became instant classics. Bruno's was also the first bar to open a patio in Portland. Then in 1999, the Bruno's name was resurrected in its current location at 33 Allen Avenue in Portland.

Services
Bruno's traditional, Italian-American food has been a favorite in Portland for decades. Made from scratch, the ravioli that you know and love is now available for wholesale and retail sale. Add some flavor to your meal with a jar of our famous poppy seed dressing. Our homestyle ravioli has been a customer favorite for years, so we wanted to give people the opportunity to make it themselves.

Pros: ambiance is nice, service was pretty good. My husband liked his veal parmigiana.
Cons: unfortunately the food was flavorless. I had the seafood stuffed haddock but the seafood stuffing had essentially no flavor after it was drowned in the butter under the fish. Calamari was pretty tough and no flavor in the batter whatsoever. For 88 dollars, this was a rather disappointing dinner.

Critical: Professionalism
Went in tried to order a Cesar salad with ranch dressing- the waiter said I don’t know if they can do that- I mean why can’t they do that. Just put the salad together and bring ranch out. They don’t like to substitute anything. They don’t like changing the menu at all. I would not recommend.

We waited atleast 25 minutes to be greeted at our table. Then waited quite a while for our drinks. Dinner came out very slow, we were told the kitchen is backed up. All the above is understood. Greet me and give me a drink, the lack of service would have been more acceptable. Service wasn't the best, however the food was delicious.
