Opened in 1994 by husband-and-wife team, Jim and Cheryl Rettig, Cactus Ya Ya has long been a popular East Vancouver neighborhood restaurant and bar for friends and families to gather. The Ya Ya offers a diverse menu featuring the local favorite "Ya Ya Rolls", pastas, seafood, halibut tacos, burgers, enchiladas, and more.

A lively, vibrant bar offers a list of specialty margaritas, a full selection of specialty cocktails, wines by the glass, local micro brews on tap, and imported and domestic bottled beers served ice cold out of our claw-foot tub. The daily happy hour menu has developed a loyal following of long-time regular customers.

Great food consistently. Fantastic drinks. Perfect service. Couldn't ask for a better team. Clearly the owners treat their staff well. We go in at least once a week. Never gets old. The mojitos are still the best in town. Don't believe me? Try one😎

Good drinks, good service, food left a lot to be desired. Meat had almost no flavor along with the rice, both were very bland although the beans were good.

Always excellent service and great food! The nuclear margaritas are the bomb (pun intended!). The crunchy fish tacos are fabulous too! Salads are fresh and often plentiful. Burgers are great too. We visit often for a reason! The Ya Ya rolls are fun also. Way to go Cactus Ya Ya!!!

Atmosphere fantastic, wait staff phenomenal. Drinks were great. But this is not the place to go if you have any allergies or intolerance. I want to put 5 stars but I will not be able to eat there again for this reason. 😢

We usually aren't disappointed here. I wish their kids menu was a bit better but nobody makes fried oysters like these guys. I get them anywhere that makes them and I'm always disappointed because they never compare to cactus yayas! Great service too!

A little slow to get initial service and it wasn't the friendliest, but the food was phenomenal. The peanut rolls are 5 star material. They were out of the first 2 dishes we asked for and the didn't have a couple of the alcohols that were requested. One was Honey Jack Daniels or any honey whiskey, so I would say the bar is limited. Overall, I really like the place and has wonderful outside seating by the 🔥.

Friday dinner...steak tacos...fish tacos...generous potions & very tasty. Service was efficient & friendly. The only con was the noise level...LOUD.

I ordered for takeout, but I could tell that the atmosphere and vibe inside of the restaurant was very nice, though the outside may not look the best. Welcoming decoration, a bit dark, and a lot of friendly servers. The woman who took my order over the phone was super kind and helpful, making sure to get everything right despite having a hard time hearing me. I'd consider coming back to give the place another chance and experience the full service.
I got the grilled fish, which was good but not great to me. The halibut was a bit dry except for the sauce, and I could have done without it (based
