Through my own personal journey with substance use and mental health, I have learned how important it is to have support. After struggling for too long, I sought out professional help. My therapist helped me to see things that I wasn't able to see in myself. I consistently showed up and put in the work.
The disease of addiction is so powerful. Even though hundreds of times you have not been able to control your alcohol or drug use, you convince yourself that this time will be different. Day after day after day. There's nothing wrong with you. You are not weak. You don't lack willpower.
