Through my own personal journey with substance use and mental health, I have learned how important it is to have support. After struggling for too long, I sought out professional help. My therapist helped me to see things that I wasn't able to see in myself. I consistently showed up and put in the work.
The disease of addiction is so powerful. Even though hundreds of times you have not been able to control your alcohol or drug use, you convince yourself that this time will be different. Day after day after day. There's nothing wrong with you. You are not weak. You don't lack willpower.

Does it feel like you can't control it no matter how hard you try? It's normal to feel anxious about certain things, like if you're nervous about a presentation or you're worried about a job interview. But if you feel anxious all the time, you may need help from a professional. You can find relief and learn ways to manage these feelings.
Maybe you're finding it difficult to socialize with other people and you just want to be left alone. Perhaps you feel hopeless or sad and don't understand why. It's natural to feel sad every once in a while, but when you feel overwhelmed with sadness everyday, you may be experiencing depression. Depression is a serious mental health issue and needs to be treated by a doctor or therapist.
