Beef steak texture was different than any other Chinese restaurant, and had a very particular smell. Fried rice was very bland for fried rice, little to no egg in it. Crab rations were ok and the egg rolls had only crumbs of meat with vegetables, and not very good. Sorry I was really hoping to like the food

Whenever I’m visiting Nebraska, I try to stop at Shen Café! They offer numerous gluten free options (small upcharge for GF) and the portions are generous. Everything I’ve had has been delicious! Though I definitely prefer the spicy entrees as the mild tend to be a little sweet for my preference.

Tried a new place to us. I had the sezhuan and son had the GPO...garlic pepper onion. Both very good with nice thick sauce. I asked for mine super spicy..as always. Dish was not spicy enough but beware the hot mustard! Holy hell it was loaded with horse radish. The organic tea was also excellent. Nice front counter service person. Clean restaurant. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

I cannot express how much my roommate and I enjoyed Shen Cafe! The customer service was very good, fast and the overall environment was warm and welcoming. I chose to get the sesame chicken along with fried rice, as well trying their 2 for $2 deal and got the egg drop soup and an egg roll. In total I paid $13 for a large portion, a drink, and the 2 sides. I am also in no way exaggerating when I say that the sesame chicken was the BEST I have ever had. It was crunchy, and had the perfect amount of sauce! I'm counting down the days to till I can go back, defiantly worth the stop.

Great Chinese food exists in Nebraska!
This family-owned restaurant not only serves authentic, delicious Chinese food but also has beautiful decors that enhanced our dining experience. Not to mention, our servers were attentive and polite.
We're Chinese Americans visiting from California, and this Lincoln-based restaurant has our seal of approval!

I've been ordering Thai Teas here for years. I go in today and order ONE drink and am handed two small cups as my item AFTER I've paid. With no explanation other than "the extra in your small cup is hot." I said, um I'm going out to get groceries I can't really carry around two cups of tea. Her explanation? Oh we don't have the big cups anymore ... Wow, looks like I'll be going elsewhere as this place can't even afford to purchase larger paper cups for it's paying customers now. You have one size of drink. You should have cups that fit all of the

Shen Cafe is pretty good! It's usually a long wait for takeout because the dining room is packed for dinner, so call with plenty of advanced notice. It's usually 10 minutes longer than the time we're given.
The lemon chicken is small fried nuggets with a clear, sweet lemon sauce. They serve it with the sauce on the bottom for takeaway, which is nice because most of the chicken stays crispy.
The spiced curry entree is good as well, and it's a mildly spicy saucy meaty dish. You can get entrees and add a couple small sides for only $2, or a Shen bowl, which is a protein sauced

Glad to have this on south side, they don't deliver ( I think delivery companies do) but I eat here inside or pick up my own carryout. Simple and perhaps healthier Chinese option . I recommend the lettuce wraps -so much flavor! The honey sesame with veggie and tofu w rice is also good. Hope they add new things soon I go very often and would appreciate additional menu options!

I'm somewhat torn on how many stars to leave. First of all, I was THRILLED to find a Chinese restaurant with Gluten Free options (especially gluten free/vegan options). As someone who has been eating strictly gluten free for four years, that deserves five stars right there. Even the deep fried items are all gluten free. They are able to batter and fry the meat options, but not the tofu.
Unfortunately, when I was there, I think they were short on staff, so it took 30+ minutes to get my takeout order.
In the end, I LOVED my food (I ordered the broccoli mix with tofu), but my husband (who

I want to love this place, but ultimately a restaurant has to be good at one thing- food. Great atmosphere, friendly service, great ingredients and reasonably prices. But the food....
Teriyaki chicken stick was good and the crab Rangoon was also good. Unfortunately, the orange chicken was not. Good crisp coating, but chicken was rubbery and flavor was weak. Couldn't even finish it. It was too rubbery.
May be worth another shot, but not eager to waste the money.

First off its nice to find a place with gluten free chinese food. Since I've been gluten free, chinese food has been difficult to come by. Many places either just are not sure about the gluten free status of their dishes or its just a no based on all the sauces. Shen cafe has which sauces are gluten free right on their menu board so its very simple to navigate.
You walk in and the atmosphere has a modern feel to it with energizing colors. I haven't been in when its been too busy yet so I've been able to order quickly and food comes promptly. Once I ate there and another time I

This place is Chinese in the Chipotle model. Choose your meat, your sauce, your rice, then add extras like soup, egg roll or won ton. The also have bowls of lo mein or rice.
Everything is made after you order. Egg roll was Just out of the fryer. Too hot too eat.
The hot & sour soup was brothy not gelatinous like most Chinese places.
I got the Ghengis Kahn steak and made it Blazing. Steak was really tender and the sauce a little sweet. Spouse got veggies in Shen Sauce. Shen is yummy brown sauce with a hint of ginger.
Good value. Three courses for each of us for $25. The have beer too
