Services
The Pastime Restaurant started out as a grocery store on the Corner of South Blvd and a gravel road that later became Nicholson Drive, in the early 1920s. It operated as Alesce's Grocery on the south side of downtown Baton Rouge in an area designated as Beauguard town. Surrounded by a rice mill, a brickyard, a lumberyard and a furrier, the Pastime eventually grew into a restaurant and lounge in 1945.
Do you know that some 3rd party delivery services charge between 25% to 35% PLUS credit card fees that can range from 3% plus.35 cents a transaction to 4.5% and.50 cents per transaction? They charge you the processing fee and then turn around and charge us the same processing fee so they are making an additional 6% to 9% plus the per transaction fee, and this is on the complete total, including tax, delivery fee and drivers tip.
We have always stressed that outstanding people, unified in a group effort, are the key to our success. Through the efforts of our employees, the Pastime has become a Historical Landmark and a recognized leader in the food service marketplace in this community. Please go to our employement section and fill out an application or come to the restaurant between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm (after our noon rush).

Those roast beef poboys are still as wonderful as I remembered. Next month when we 5 meet there for our passing a good time, we'll have something else. The menu has expanded in the 12 years I've been gone. Randy Wesley looks good and remembered me on his own! Way to make a once long time regular feel good.

Update: 10/29/21 I will post my experience with your restaurant on every media outlet I use and know that my peers personally and professionally use. I want people to know how bad your restaurant is. You gave me attitude and have no customer service skills let alone management skills. So any short comings at this restaurant start with its lack of leadership. You want better reviews....Earn them!
Absolutely disgusting pizza!!
I did order a calzone that was really good. I had delivery and of course they forget my beverages!
Called the restaurant manager could not care less! So typical of LA! Sloppy

The first pizza I ever tasted at 3 years of age was Pastime. Now, decades later, I'm still picking up pizza here because it is as good as ever. They have more variety and options on today's menu for those watching what they eat and/or want something different/local, though I still go with the traditional Downtown Special every time. The crust is like nowhere else, crispy but with substance. I think they're still the best in town!

Anyone visiting Baton Rouge should do themselves a favor and swing in to this staple restaurant in our city. Not only is the pizza amazing, but the atmosphere is extremely charming. I'm also a big fan of their seafood and sandwiches. The workers are extremely friendly and always make a point to say hello and greet patrons. I'm lucky enough to work downtown and am able to eat lunch here often. Highly recommend.
