Arriving from South Korea with his mother, father, younger brother, and older sister when he was seven years old, Dr. Kim grew up in Concord, North Carolina and attended Central Cabarrus High School, where he played football, acted in theater, and was consistently on honor roll.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in both biology and chemistry, Dr. Kim earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Marquette University School of Dentistry and then completed his General Practice Residency (GPR) at East Carolina School of Medicine before opening his private practice in Charlotte.

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the soft tissues of the mouth and the underlying jawbone which supports the teeth. A dentist must first graduate from an accredited dental school before undertaking an additional three years of study within a periodontology residency training program, in order to qualify as a periodontist.
According to research conducted by the American Cancer society, more than 30,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year. More than 7,000 of these cases result in the death of the patient. The good news is that oral cancer can easily be diagnosed with an annual oral cancer exam, and effectively treated when caught in its earliest stages.

Very good customer service! We had issues with my schedule and had to cancel several times due to valid reasons but they were very accommodating to adjust our appointment.

Dentist and hygienist were incredibly nice and walked me through each thing they were doing. Ensured I was comfortable throughout the procedure and loved they didn’t ask me questions not related to what they were doing. It’s always awkward when someone tries to carry on a conversation when they are cleaning your teeth.
We were referred years ago to this practice and never have we been dissatisfied.

I received excellent care at Prosperity Park Center For Dentistry. The staff were all courteous and highly professional. Dr. Tommy Kim is the BEST! He’s been caring for me and my family since he opened his practice. He’s so competent that even though my fear of dentistry is real, I trust him to care for me. Today he filled a cavity under a crown and I didn’t feel a thing. His staff is as skilled and kind as he is. If you need a dentist, you can rely on Dr. Kim.

Really enjoying having Dr Kim as my dentist for over 2 years now. What I love best about the visit is the efficiency: short wait upon arrival and quick but careful and complete care. They’re organized and friendly. Dr. Kim is thorough in care and communication. The only downside I see is that I have to go to a different dentist for major services (like extraction or surgery). It’s not just this office though; I think many are like that—this is just my first experience with it. Overall, great office for everything else. Thanks Dr. Kim and staff!

As far as I am concerned, there is no better dentistry. I am always treated with respect and my personal feelings are placed at the top of the list when it comes to providing not good but great patient care. I have been with Dr. Tommy Kim for many years. I have been a dental patient of Dr. Kim since 2003. Prior to him I had plenty of experience with many other dentists. I can say without hesitation he is the best dentist I have ever had. His attention to detail is impeccable. His office had always been professional yet very comfortable. He is the best!

A cheerful greeting at the front desk. In the back I see the Hygienist washing hands, and the sterilized dental tools are neatly arranged.
She says, "I treat others the way I want to be treated. " very thoughtful and caring!

I came in with my teeth in bad shape, several cavities and two severely broken molars. Dr. Kim told me that I was in danger of losing them. So naturally they set me up with a deep cleaning- three months later. My molars keep breaking into smaller pieces and have gotten infected and still he does nothing about them 'because the cleaning has to come first'. So I waited three months and came in for the cleaning to be told they don't offer happy gas. Okay, I can deal. They numb up both sides of my mouth (against their usual policy, because it's dangerous I was told) via shots

I am terrified of going to the dentist. Quite frankly, I'm a big baby. I've had a broken upper wisdom tooth for quite some time, causing huge amounts of pain, that I have been putting off getting taken care of.
