Asi Es La Vida
Irving Rodriguez has owned the upscale Mexican Restaurant, Asi es la Vida for 8 years, since 2007. The restaurant has been in the family since 2002, and was started by a family friend in1992. Such is Life, was owned by Moises Treves, who got his start cooking traditional Mexican cuisine in southern Mexico in the 1970's.

At first he was selling food on the street out of a station wagon. When he told his story to a favorite customer, she planted the seed for him to have a restaurant by leaving a note and $500. He moved to Phoenix and is credited with creating upscale Mexican food in the valley. The building that houses Asi es la Vida, at 24th street and Whitton, was originally a house and was re-built in the late 80's.

Stopped here over the weekend. Have drove past and always wanted to try this place.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. We each had 2-3 drinks and ordered dinner.
2 of us got the ropa vieja and chicken tinga combo and the other the single ropa vieja. Overall the food was pretty good, but the chicken tinga was a little bland/missing some flavor. We did however enjoy the ropa vieja, the drinks, and the service.
We also started with the guac (not pictured)

Delicious fresh food with superb service. Our waiter/bartender was so accommodating and friendly (unfortunately we didn't get his name but he's awesome). Highly recommend this place! It was by far the best place we ate at during our stay in Phoenix! Cannot recommend enough.

We ate there last month, and everything was outstanding! The employees were welcoming and so nice, and it's located in an eclectic and zany building! Going back for sure, great prices especially on the lunch menu! Highly recommended

Holy mole this restaurant is a hidden gem! We visited on a Saturday night and entered through their shady looking back door, walked down a narrow hallway and thought we may have been in the wrong place. Don't worry! You'll be greeted by a surprisingly vibrant and welcoming staff and bright ambiance just on the other side.
We had the chef special and the sampler appetizer to share and they both were excellent. The traditional mole and mole verde were some of the best we've had. The setting with live music was a great touch and not too loud.
Would recommend for a date night or a relaxing dinner

Great authentic Mexican restaurant. Very cozy ambience, warm welcoming staff. The food was so authentic just like what I tasted in Mexico City. I am a vegetarian and most of the times the Mexican sauces, rice and tortillas have some meat products mixed. But they didn’t have anything mixed and the food was so fresh, so delicious and very unique. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try real Mexican food with that authentic feel and taste. The portions are perfect for one person.

Went in for a GNO and everything was phenomenal. We asked to be seated away from other diners and they were happy to accommodate. ALL of the food was amazing! We ordered the ceviche acapulco, the guacamole, the… appetizer platter with the mole, cactus, the shrimp and poblano, etc. Sangria and margaritas all around. So delish! Filet Asi Es La Vida, Carne Tampiquena, tres leches cake, crepes, creme brulee, and chocolate flan. The experience was fantastic all around and highly recommend.

Mexico City food - fabulous. My favorite is the Enrollado de Res. Great bar, delicious food, desserts, and a cozy, chic decor heavily influenced by and showcasing Frida Kahlo paintings. Weekends have a guitar player/singer in the bar area.

Small cute place with a romantic atmosphere and live music. We ordered the crepes de camarón, queso fundido with chorizo, sopa de crema de cilantro, filet mignon, and the leg of lamb. All were delicious. I wouldn’t get the sopa azteca again though. Nice place for a special occasion.

Amazing is the perfect word for this restaurant. Our server was AMAZING. She knew the menu inside and out. She gave great recommendations for drinks and the chef's special. Live music playing in the background with the amazing artwork of Frida. The dishes that are being served had so much flavor and you wanted more. Delicious, flavorful desserts that you must try as well. So bring your appetite you won't regret it.
