Be careful of the contracts as they will not give you a refund, no matter what. Their classes have continually been cancelled and the instructors just never showed up. They also took back their policy on free workout classes and just now told me that I have to pay for their classes that are nonexistent. They were very rude to me on the phone and continued to make up information. I would not recommend this place, it is very deceiving and I am stuck in a contract because I didn't read the fine print. Be aware!

Attractive location with a broad rnage of equipment, suitable for a large variety of training styles including yoga, crossfit and bodybuilding.
Hygiene is low and most of the equipment is in defect including most running tracks and the boxing bag. No invesments since the opening. Also very overpriced, considering the state of the equipment.
No proffessional personal trainers or organized training sessions. Staff is impolite as well.

Great gym for the price. I'm not big into lifting weights - I'm most often here to do some cardio or take classes so I'm very happy with Capital Fitness! I'm not really sure how good the weight lifting equipment is here but my partner does do strength training and weights and he seems happy with it + says its better than the UW-Madison gym for sure, if that counts for anything.
Although I'm a grad student at UW, I've never visited the gym because the SERF started remodeling when I got here and the other school gym options seemed too far for me to realistically use

I would like to preface this by saying that I originally sent the below email to capital fitness through the "contact us" comment box on their website. That was about 5 months ago and I never even received an acknowledgement email. I also didn't notice that any of my complaints were taken into consideration or fixed. They either decided to ignore my email (extremely unprofessional) or they never received it (also very unprofessional-their website should function properly). I enjoyed my time at capital fitness at first, but now one of my favorite spin instructors (Alex) has left and

Purely visited as an out of towner on a single day pass.
Pros: gym is conveniently located downtown near capital which was nice. There was plenty of equipment and the space wasn't too busy for a day after work. Had to wait for a few machines but nothing too bad. Multiple floors house different things - cardio, weights, etc. I counted 4 power racks and even had a deadlift platform.
Cons: $17 for a one day pass was steep. Only two benches which were of course impossible to get too. Some of the cables were missing their hooks.
Overall a good experience. Price was biggest factor from

Good gym -- I signed up mainly because I live a few blocks away. Crowds aren't bad especially as the year progresses and the New Years resolution people slowly stop showing up.
A few areas of improvement are the slow wifi and the odd phenomenon that your guest passes expire before your contract is up...
Not bad for the price and convenience.

I did a lot of research about places to do Yoga in Madison before I signed up for Capital Fitness. In my opinion they have the best teacher in Madison, Ellen, and they have the best deal for students. You also get access to the full gym and their group fitness classes. They have incentive programs regularly and the classes are always a huge mix of age and ability so it is very comfortable to practice there. In the summer they do rooftop yoga and they offer a large selection of classes.

Literally the only problem with Capital Fitness is that it is too popular. It is super clean, has a great selection of equipment, lots of free (with your membership) classes, and a sauna.
Peak hours are hellish. On Mondays they always run out of towels, and people are always forgetting to rerack certain machines. I also wish there were classes during a greater range of hours - lots of them are early/midafternoon when I would think most people are working.
Other than that I love it and I am obviously glad it is popular and awesome rather than unpopular and terrible.

I've been a member since October 2015. The equipment is fairly new and in good condition. They have a smoothie bar, sell coffee throughout the day, and have a variety of snacks you can charge onto your account. The peak hours are between 4 pm-7 pm, so I try my best to avoid being there at those times. The gym also includes yoga and exercise classes in the membership. I do wish they had extended hours. On weekend nights they close at 9 pm. Other than that, I have no complaints and do really enjoy my time here. Great customer service as well. I still have yet to visit their new location on West

I really have been enjoying my membership here. They offer great student packages that have access to both of their locations. I especially like the new location on W. Washington. It's small but it's usually by too crowded and has every thing you need.
I was skeptical about their yoga at first but I really love their instructors. I wasn't a huge fan of the group work out classes. But those aren't usually my thing. The crowds at the main location is the only reason I can't give it a 5 star. But clearly that means they must be doing something right!

If you're like me, you look for a gym where you can go in, get a workout done and leave as quickly as possible... and I've been able to do that for the most part at Capital Fitness. Granted, I work a flex schedule, I'm able to go in during the non-peak times (which BTW - there is absolutely nobody there at 8am on weekdays - perfect!) and do what I want to do. However, when I have gone in during peak times (5pm workdays), I have had to get creative in using open equipment to substitute for my usual workout.
They also offer a variety of free classes, which you sign up for a day

My boyfriend and I joined Capital Fitness because we get a discount through our apartment (and also can pay for membership with our rent, which is really convenient.)
The good:
-It's conveniently located
-decorated nicely
-beautiful yoga facilities (and some great teachers, I especially like John H)
-rooftop yoga in the summertime
-TVs on most cardio machines in addition to flat screens around the gym
The bad:
-when my boyfriend and I signed up we didn't even get a tour or even verbal explanation of the facilities. I didn't know there were other floors for weeks!
-it can be kind

My new gym! Also, the first gym I've ever joined. Capital Fitness is within walking distance from where we live and has great hours. They have four different levels, a salon and spa, heated yoga studio, spin studio, and group classes that are all available to me through my membership. I used to run outside year round for a few years, then would run when the weather was 40 and above, and this year have just stopped once the cold showed up.
I hate feeling lazy over the winter months so decided this year the price for a 6 month membership is worth it. I was given a tour when I showed up last

I love my gym.
I love the multiple levels, the friendly front desk staff, the MANY classes offered throughout every day, the hours that are perfect for me, the beautiful yoga studio and amazing instructors.
The online services and class registration is so convenient. Their website is pretty great.
Sometimes it smells and sometimes treadmills will short, but those things are just occasional.
If you really put your mind to it, you can find free or cheap parking within a block or so (and walking is good for you, you're going to the gym!) The parking doesn't really bother me and I&apos
