Services
If you would like to work with me but cannot make it to Seattle, we can work online over video. For our online sessions we will use the HIPAA-compliant platform Doxy which is private and confidential. Online therapy works in much the same way as traditional face-to-face therapy. We will have a set time for our sessions and connect with the use of our computers (or phones), microphones, and video cameras.
My office is easily accessible to folks coming from Fremont, Ballard, Wallingford, University District, Maple Leaf, Westlake, South Lake Union, Eastlake, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, Greenwood, Northgate, Shoreline, and Edmonds. You can park for free in the parking lot by the office building for the duration of your session.
People frequently ask me, "How do I find the right therapist?" In this article I give a concise, yet comprehensive review of the latest research regarding features that make therapy effective.
My graduate thesis containing a review of the current scientific understanding of empathy, a description of the evolution of child rearing in the western societies, and an exploration of the features of public schooling which are likely to be distressing to children, among other things.

Books and online materials are great tools to continue improving mental wellness outside of the therapy office. Below you will find some of the resources that I frequently recommend to folks. Extremely well-researched and well-argued books by Alice Miller exposing the effects of parental neglect, manipulation, and abuse on children, as well as ways widespread maltreatment of children contributes to mental disorders and adult violence.

I have known Max for more than four years. I met Max shortly after I moved to the Seattle area and we became great friends. What impressed me the most about Max was his kind personality and genuine compassion for others. He earned not only mine, but also everyone else’s respect in our social circle. I found him a hard working professional who has invested a lot of time in improving his craft by attending conferences and reading all kinds of books. He not only communicates well verbally, but has a deep understanding of the problems confronted by patients who are struggling with psychological issues

As an entrepreneur and executive, I also appreciate Max's expertise in effective conflict resolution and his general understanding of business processes and relationships.

Max and I have been colleagues and friends for four years. His private practice was just getting started when we met, and it has been personally gratifying to witness his continued success as a helping professional. Neither of us relishes small talk and so our conversations about life, relationship, therapy, and lifelong learning take us deep into subjects where ideas interplay with our individual values, ideals, and principles. When we consult about our work, about the lives we touch, I hear how committed he is to his clients; and how much of himself he offers them in the process. I never hesitate

If you’re looking for an excellent therapist in the Seattle area, my highest recommendation is with Max Tsymbalau. I’ve been a professional colleague of Max’s for over five years and I’ve come to know him as a very warm, insightful, and caring therapist and human being. Max knows how to help people work through many challenges, and I have no doubt you will get a lot of depth and benefit from his services.

Max has been a colleague and a friend of mine for several years and I know him to be a person of great empathy, compassion, and professionalism. Max's clients will benefit from his proficiency in multiple therapy theories, including internal family systems therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as his compassionate yet direct approach to working with people. I would absolutely recommend Max to anyone looking for a competent and sensitive therapist in Seattle or to those looking for a good online therapist.
