First off, I'm a teacher and tried to come here for our after-school program holiday gift exchange. There was some miscommunication in regards to the deal that they were giving us which wasn't a big deal. However, the place was empty and we were there with 5 people. 3 other people backed out so we decided to come for happy hour. One of the managers came up to us and asked if our reservation was going to be for more people because 3 of the chairs at our table were empty. Hubby and I running around Newark looking for a place to eat and passed by Harrison. Harrison is up and coming slowly. Really nice area. We stopped by Joia Portuguese restaurant. Nice ambiance. Xmas decor and staff are friendly. Cozy and inviting place. Food is tasty will return.

Had Thanksgiving dinner there. First time going and was very disappointed. My turkey was over cooked and salty, the cranberry sauce looked like it came from a can. My husband's salmon was dry and my sons prime rib came rare instead of medium. The apple crisp was good. We won't be going back and certainly won't reccomend to anyone.

Food was terrible and the service was also. Location is great for the games. I wouldn't get anything besides the sandwiches. A lot of people were eating sandwiches, we didn't get the memo.
The Portuguese entree, were not good. Plates went back full and they didn't even ask why. Waiter ordered my husband the wrong dish. Just a bad experience. I understand they are kinda new.... I Hope they get their business on track. Prefer to go further away from stadium and walk for better food.

I've been here twice, with family within the last 2 months. Both large parties, and we all had a great time. Service was great, and attentive. Place was nice, clean and bright. Everyone's orders were correct. Portions are extremely great size, and food is delicious. Highly recommended!!. Also important to note that they have their own private parking garage. Lastly it can be a bit long getting there, during a Red Bulls games, due to excessive traffic in the area, so if you're planning on going during their season, check their schedule, so you're prepare for a bit of traffic.

I used to go this restaurant or get takeout several times per week. They served a flan that had hair in it. When I complained, I was told it was not a big deal and was horribly treated. He even said it was because the dessert was a courtesy. When I said I would not be going back, he shook his shoulders like he didn’t care, and this was the manager.
Food is cold and terrible hygiene. I will not be going back there.

Joia has the best seafood of the whole area! It has absolutely delicious paella and fry calamari. All of their frying dishes are splendid. My favorite is their seafood platter(at my time MP $105 for 2-3 people large portion!!!!!) very fresh, good quality ingredients, large portion, fair pricing. Awesome place for casual diners and dates!

We rolled up with a group of 18. 10 being children! We had a reservation and the waitstaff and manager were very accommodating. The sangria was delicious. We had a pitcher of both red and white and normally I choose white as a favorite but Joia's red was incredible. The grilled octopus over kale appetizer was garlicy and left me wanting more! The winner of the evening was the massive- and I mean massive paella for 4! It was impressive in both size and flavor.

I moved to Harrison in July 2020, and La Joia is hands down the best restaurant in the town. Whether it’s takeout or dinning in the restaurant always expect: Generous & Great sized portions, great drinks—try the Blue Sangria and then thank me later 😉, and great service. Came here with a group of six, upon arrival was immediately taken care of. Parking nearby is another plus. Sangria was great, appetizers was just as good had stuffed mushrooms, calamari, chourico. We all had a variety of different dishes and everyone was happy and had enough to pack for lunch the next day. Recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Generous portions, decent prices, I usually go to pick up takeout because Dina who runs the takeout counter is awesome and always has a smile on her face, but have dined in multiple times and service varies, on average it is okay, but don't go if you're in a rush because you won't be getting out quickly. Good daily specials and a great brunch special.

So I decided to meet one of my girlfriends for lunch for 2pm. I made reservations online. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby, they also had garage parking. I only had the pleasure of ordering salmon for take out, however it was probably one of the best take out salmon I've had to date. The salmon was not dry at all and it was pretty big along with a decent amount of sides. I can't wait to try eating in and seeing how their indoor dining experience would be like.

Drinks were reasonably priced. The restaurant is in a good location away from traffic and has a good outdoor sitting experience. We ordered the full chicken barbecue as it was fresh and saw a lot of people order it. We were sort of disappointed as it was bland to our taste. The bread in the beginning was great.
