The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, Oregon by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. Today, we're bringing their vision of serving authentic pancakes, waffles, eggs and other traditional breakfast recipes to Normal, Illinois. We use only the best ingredients, such as 93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, fresh grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour, and our own sourdough starter.
We invite you to try our signature breakfast items like the Apple Pancake, which is baked to perfection with a deliciously rich cinnamon sugar glaze, or the Dutch Baby, an airy delight served with lemon, whipped butter, and powdered sugar. Our omelets are rolled in a skillet and then baked for a lighter consistency.

The Original Pancake House is known around the world for its authentic breakfast offerings, which are based on classic recipes, some passed down for generations. We've been serving food that we're proud of since 1953, and we're excited to have joined the Bloomington-Normal community in 2018. True hospitality starts when you're greeted at our door and extends throughout your meal and beyond.
A Danish favorite. 3 crepes filled with tart red cherries simmered in our Kijafa sauce and dusted with powdered sugar. Grilled brioche dipped in a rich egg and cream batter, topped with strawberries and whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. Served with warm homemade strawberry syrup. Additional toppings $1.00 each.
Whether you need space for a team celebration, book club, or business meeting, our private event space seats 30, has multimedia capabilities, and is available to customers for no charge Monday through Friday. Dine in experience is always great! Carryout experience has been great in the past but has recently gone down hill. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, and delicious food! Hoping the carryout quality will pick up in the future. On this occasion I placed an online order for breakfast sandwiches, when we opened up the containers the eggs were busted, the cheese was very paltry and sad looking, and the gravy containers were 1/3 full. The hot chocolate was amazing though! I will go back, but probably not if I'm looking for carryout, I'll reserve this place for dine-in only if I can help it.

Just happened across this place. I took the line as a good sign to start. We are very impressed with everything from the politeness of the wait staff, bus boys and managers. Everyone was helping out to include the managers. That is something that I always look for if it's busy. They were clearing tables and sweeping the floors just like anyone else. Leading by example!! The overall Vibe of the place was very positive and upbeat The food was amazing. Our waitress Sophie was awesome. She was always smiling, very friendly and helpful with her recommendations. This was our first visit to The Original Pancake House and I have to say it was quite pleasant from the time we walked in to the time we left. The staff was all friendly and social, the resturaunt looked great and wasn't busy at all. They do require masks while entering but as your eating you aren't required to wear them and they sit everyone with enough space that you feel comfortable as well as allow you to pick where you would like to sit. All the staff wear masks and clean behind you almost immediately after your done. We were there for maybe less than an hour between eating, talking and enjoying

Great coffee. Large selection. Lots of pancake crepe & waffle dishes. Traditional sides like hash browns, sausage etc.. Half orders of specialty pancakes too (like chocolate chip which comes with whip cream & chocolate sauce on the side if you want it) Eggs Benedict, breakfast bowl type items. A happy place! Stopped in for breakfast here this morning. We checked in online, and even though the restaurant was packed, we only waited a few minutes for a table. I ordered the farmer's scramble, my husband wanted to try the apple pancake, but didn't think it'd be enough food so he ordered the sausage and eggs to go with.
Our meals were fine. The service was great. Our coffee cups stayed filled. But what really put this place over the top is the apple pancake. The description on the menu does not do it justice. It's practically an apple cake. It was probably 8in in diameter, an inch and

This place typically has long waiting lines and is very crowded during the weekends as well as some week days. It is not the best choice to have a peaceful breakfast. Finally, I had the chance to try it and did not understand what all the fuss was about. Everything we ate was good but nothing special.

The bacon and eggs, Santa fe omelets, eggs Benedict, and more are just fantastic
The wait on Sunday can be long if you just walk in and ask for a table, it's better/easier to go to the Yelp app and virtually add your party to the queue
And check in with the host as you arrive

They have a great menu and love the variety of gluten-free pancakes they can make for me when I am am the mood for them. The omelettes are terrific! Bacon is too thick for my taste, but some people like thick bacon I guess.
Tried dining inside after they opened (afterCovid-19) and they did not space people far enough apart for my comfort level. We decided on take-out after that.

We ordered 12 breakfasts a day prior for 10am on Mother's Day and it took 2 hours because they were not prepared for The rush. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone when we parked for curbside which made it longer due to that. Come to find they through eggs, bacon, pancake mix and orange juice in bags for us to cook. OMG we paid $130 to cook it ourselves. We could of bought everything ourselves for way less. I love this place but don't order when it's a holiday.

Great breakfast options including really good pancakes and thick cut bacon. Their coffee is also some of the best in town and is served with heavy cream. They have a lot of space especially when the patio is open but on the weekend the Yelp waitlist check-in is really handy to get you on the list so you don't have to wait long to be seated.
Not the cheapest food but good quality including fresh whipped cream and butter. They do have specials for children and those over 55.

We were visiting family here and my Papa took us all to The Original Pancake house. It was the first time I had been here and I really enjoyed it! Everyone loved their food. I got the Farmer’s Scramble/Skillet with over easy eggs instead of scrambled, and it was great. There thick sliced bacon was incredible!! The pancakes lived up to their name. The waffles were really good, too! The only thing that was lacking was the service. We had about a 20 top and I understand it’s busy, but I got my first coffee and it was probably at least 20 minutes before he even came back to check on us when the

Their signature apple pancake is really, really sweet so you know. I'm not a sweet breakfast fan. The dutch baby with fruit is my fav. It's a souffle that comes with a make your own lemon frosting dealio. Fun!
I've also tried the cherry kijafa crepes. EXCELLENT and super eggy.
Don't forget the fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juices!
