Colonie Youth Center
The mission of Colonie Youth Center, Inc. (CYC) is to provide a variety of childcare, recreation and wellness services designed to enhance the living experience for all people in the greater Capital Region. CYC was started in 1965, by a group of North Colonie School District students and community leaders focused on teenage recreation.

During the 1970s and 1980s, there was a marked increase in the number of single parent families as well as dual-earner households. This shift in the family dynamic created a growing need for before and after-school childcare. To meet the demand, CYC's childcare program was launched in the early 1980s for students in North and South Colonie Elementary Schools, adding South Colonie Middle Schools in the mid 1980s.
Services
The Colonie Youth Center's programs and services range from year-round, school-age childcare to aquatic and medically integrated fitness services at our Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center. CYC's School-Age Child Care programs (SACC) are more than just a place for kids to pass the time before and after school.
CYC has provided safe and affordable before-school and after-school programs for more than 35 years and is one of the largest providers of school-age childcare in the Capital Region. We proudly serve children at 13 locations in the North and South Colonie school districts and at our home office at 15 Avis Drive in Latham.
Colonie Youth Center's Vacation Camps offer enhanced activity to keep children entertained during their breaks from school. These full day camps are filled with themed planning that unify the daily schedule and keep the children immersed in fun. We offer camp locations in the North and South Colonie School Districts and at our home office on 15 Avis Drive in Latham.
When the Colonie Youth Center was founded more than 50 years ago, our goal was simply to provide recreational programs to teens. Today, the scope of CYC's mission has greatly expanded. Our services now range from school-age childcare programs and summer camps to medically integrated health and wellness services.
CYC provides school-age childcare services to more than 1,200 children in the North and South Colonie School Districts. Due to tremendous population growth in the North Colonie School District, we recently purchased a building in Latham to provide additional childcare outside of the school sites. A donation to the CYC Scholarship Fund subsidizes the cost of school-age childcare for hard-working families.
