Services
Ballard Animal Hospital is a privately owned veterinary hospital serving patients and clients at the same Location for over 60 years. Dr. William Brennan built the original structure and opened for business in 1953. In his design, he included a three bedroom apartment, located below the clinic, where he and his family lived for several years.
At Ballard Animal Hospital, it is our commitment to provide up-to-date, comprehensive and professional care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care, the diagnosis and treatment of disease and complete medical and surgical care. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and treat our patients as we would our own pets.
Your pet's annual exam allows for early detection and prompt treatment of health problems, but it's also the way that we get to know you and your pet. This doctor, patient, client relationship forms the foundation for caring for the health of your pet throughout its life. At least once, and then as patients age, twice per year, your pet should have a complete physical examination.
We operate primarily on an appointment basis. If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment or surgical procedure, we ask that you call us 24 hours in advance. Please note that emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which may delay a scheduled appointment. Your patience and understanding is appreciated if this happens.
Junior came into my life when he was a few years old and I feel fortunate I got to have him for close to 16 years. Our sweet Hanna Corinna enriched our lives everyday. She always talked to us and everyone else who visited; she persisted until she was included in the conversation. You were such a shy romantic ruffian with tattered ears that came to us one summer day, mostly skin and bones and afraid of being attacked.

This is a really great local vet. They take such good care of all the animals and give great advice on how we can look after our dog. Really appreciate their great service and follow ups. Never any problems finding parking in the lot at the front. Next door are some good cafe and food options if you have a bit of a wait.

Took our cat in for a check up. We were charged 64$ to get his BLOOD PRESSURE taken, 160$ for blood work, 15$ for disposing of his needle, 74$ for the urinalysis, and 90$ for a new pet fee. None of this was stated beforehand, they just did it without asking prior. They were also 20 minutes late for our appointment, and the appointment lasted 45 minutes longer than stated. We were extremely disappointed and feel cheated by this place.

Dr. Howe and the entire staff here are amazing. They listened to my concerns about my dog's health and took it seriously, and suggested the necessary tests and procedures to rule out any major issues. They also checked in before running any tests so I didn't have any surprise costs. Once the tests were complete over the following days I got prompt updates with the results. They clearly love animals and make me feel like my dog is in good hands.
