I’m malayali and have a love for food. Have been trying to find the best places in the area since I moved recently from NYC. I’m also currently 35 weeks pregnant. Got Biryani a couple of weeks ago. Felt fresh and tasted homely
Went back today, got porotta, chicken curry and beef fry. Chicken curry lacked flavour - it had colour, just no flavour. Beef fry feels old, definitely not fresh. He started ‘cooking’ it once we got there so you can imagine its probably just frozen and reheated. We tasted it and didn’t like the food and have thrown it all away. I didn’t even finish what I served

Veg dishes were ok but fish fry was so bad. The fish was spoiled. I had to throw away .

Rated lowly due to the lack of professionalism and punctuality. Despite scheduling a pick up time, the one man show here seems to only begin your order upon showing up. On the bright side, food is always fresh. Great food- but personally not worth the haste and time.

The place really has good kerala food (takeout only ). Chef is amazing. The place can get crowded during weekends due to large number of orders. Get there early to pickup ur food. Highly recommended for authentic kerala food.

Good food but extremely late, every single time. We were asked to come to pick the food in 30 minutes and had to wait there for another 30 mins. So late by an hour. What's the point if its going to be so late.

Food is always good but the time they tell you the food will be ready, in the past five years, has never been even close to what they promised. At least half an hour late on every visit. No bueno.

We did to go order. Good food but we were annoyed because they said it will be ready in 30mins and we waited one and a half hours. I noticed they tell customer it will be ready 20-30 minutes but originally it will be more than a hour. I don't think that's fair. We understand they are busy, it can be delayed but not more than an hour. It was a long line especially on sundays. Make sure you double check the time!

I was slightly skeptical, I’ve never been to a Bay Leaf before, but this place is great!! The prices are very fair, and I got a lot of food! The owner was very nice as well. I arrived a little early to pick up my order but he was trying to go fast for me. Very kind. I will order again next time I have an Indian food craving! I got the chicken butter and porata.

Sanu who runs Bay Leaf Garden has a passion for making lip smacking, authentic, high quality fresh food

Must try items are chicken fry, chicken roast, beef cutlets, mutton pepper roast, appams, porrotta, chicken stew, fish curry and based on availability the anchovy fish fry is must try. Other items that Sanu aces in is preparing Indo-chinese food like fried rice, chicken chilli, chicken 65 etc..

Sanu is very meticulous about the quality of the food he prepares, the meat and spices he uses and thus far I haven't been disappointed. Sanu will also customize food as per your spice preference

Thought of sharing my experience with Bay Leaf Garden - Carrollton so that you can decide whether to go there or not.For the first time; I took a carryout of chicken 65 and chicken biriyani from them today and it was the worst experience we ever had in our life.. The biriyani was cold and on top of that was having very odd rotten smell  ( which you get from old stale food). We couldn't  even taste it since we could not even bring it near our mouth due to the stinking smell...Chicken 65 peices were hard to chew and we couldn't eat that too. I hope this doesn't affect my wife's health since she

The food always tastes good, but the one thing I get frustrated with is how the food is never ready at the time they promise you. In the two years that I've ordered from them, not once has it been ready as promised. The usual lag time is 20-30 minutes.

The Kerala food here is tasty!! It's a small place inside a gas station but the food is yummy. The Chicken curry and Appam were fantastic. And the beef cutlets were awesome too.

I come here for comfort food such as the beef cutlets, and Indo Chinese, especially chicken Hakka noodles and chili chicken
Everything else on the menu is very good too, such as chicken biryani, butter chicken, palappam, omelets, fish curry etc. All this good food for a very reasonable price. Just make sure to call in advance and arrive early to pick up as there maybe a wait ... every time I pick up food, the place is chock a block with other patrons waiting to pick up food

We aren’t big eaters of Indian cuisine, but the few times we have had it, it was okay at best. However, Bay Leaf Garden has changed our minds about what Indian food can be. Sanu Thomas’ restaurant may be in a Texaco station, but the food is killer, packed with intense flavor and a delight to the palate. Portions are large and easily shared, and our first visit makes us want to visit again soon to try everything he has to offer. Don’t overlook this neighborhood gem. It will make you want to visit India and chow down like a local.

Some of the best Kerala food I've had (very close to my mother's). Fish curry, beef and chicken curry is great! Love their appum too! Delish with their chicken curry! Definitely worth trying!

Probably one of the best Kerala food places in DFW area. Chicken biryani is my favourite here. The appam and chicken curry we ordered was also amazing. This is not a restaurant, more of a carry out/catering place.

First time trying this place. Ordered beef fry, cherupyar thoran, and fish curry on a weekday. Food tasted delicious-kerala homestyle.

Flavor of beef fry had a beef cutlet flavor but it was delicious and not too oily. I wanted to try allepey fish curry but it wasnt available that day. There menu seems to change on daily basis. Order was complete pretty quickly. Minimum to order kerala meal is 5 at $10 per plate. Will try next time. Will def be coming back.

Great food in a gas station! I ordered chili chicken and fried rice both were good. Do remember to ask the chef to use less pepper power, if not you may taste some bitterness from ground pepper .

Lawd jesus help me!! $110 dollars for a large tray of biryani that also came with a 9X10 tray of salad, a plastic bag of papadum and a pie container of pickle. That's a hefty price tag there for that. *sigh*

The food was a-ok.

Yes, it's in a gas station. But, I'm a little confused by all these reviewers calling this place run down---? It was bright and clean and just fine when I was there, so, who knows.

I'd come here for catering again if I was in a time crunch and needed to feed some hungry south asians in the mood for south asian food. :)

It was annoying that I was

My family orders food from Bay Leaf all the time. The owner is super nice and friendly. You do have to order ahead or else the wait time is very long. The Kerala food from here is probably one of my favorite in dallas. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Kerala food. It is pretty authentic so expect the spiciness and all that comes along with it. I think my favorite item off the menu is the chicken curry. This place is the fuel city of Kerala Food lol. Try it out because it's delicious, cheap and authentic.
