We are temporarily closed for nightly dinner service but continue to remain open for private events. To inquire about booking a private event with us, please email events@providenceg.com. At Sarto we believe that poring over the details is always worth it; that food tastes best when it is local and seasonal; that the joys of a meal go far beyond the food.
We're located in the historic brownstone Teste Building. Originally built in 1860, it once housed an apothecary, money-to-loan business and later the Philip Wolfe Haberdasher, which inspired the name Sarto or tailor in Italian. This historic building had been preserved and the interior has been designed to match the restaurant's overall concept - a contemporary presentation of old world Italy, influenced by its Rhode Island setting.

It's the most terrible Italian food I ever tasted. I understand it's an experimental approach to traditional Italian cuisine, and it's refreshing and exciting everything, but it's bad. It's very bad. If you are looking for something new and pricey, not something delicious, this is your spot. I didn't try the wine but other people said it's not bad.

Excellent vibe, excellent food and excellent service (shout out to Jenna). Drinks were excellent - especially Cetriolo and Lemora; rhubarb pisco sour was well-made but not a fan of the taste. Scallops for dinner were excellent. Dined outside on a Saturday night as we came here last minute and inside was booked; I hope Sarto gets some heaters as by 8pm it was cold. Also, downtown Providence is quite noisy (motorcycle groups, buses, car stereos, people) but that all added to the vibe - nice to be around people again!

My husband and I went out for our first (outdoor!) dining experience since Covid hit for our anniversary and we're both so happy we chose Sarto. Every dish was absolutely delicious and the service was stellar. They take all the proper precautions and are very respectful of your comfort level (we always put our masks on as our server approached and if she was just coming to see how the food was she asked from afar so as not to interrupt our eating). Since it was our anniversary they also surprised us with some Prosecco with our dessert, it was so thoughtful and kind. Still dreaming of every

Upscale restaurant with indoor and outdoor ambiance. The cheese boards come with unique and complex flavors. The menu is limited in options, but flavorful for sure. I ordered the short rib which was served on top of polenta. The flavor of the entree was full and varied, however the short rib itself was more of a purée texture which was slightly disappointing. The staff are incredible, attentive, and approachable. I would like to come back and try a different entree to give this place a second shot.

Mind. Blown. These ladies are in the kitchen killing it! It’s the first time we’ve ever seen a kitchen full of women. I learned they locally source as much as possible & the taste is proof for sure. The quality & flavor of all the food is extraordinary. If you go, definitely try the cheese & salumi plate and the short rib osso bucco. Ask for a extra side of the grilled spring onions so you have more to go w/each bite of the polenta. Finish with the upside down pineapple dessert while sipping on a Lavender Espresso Martini or their espresso doppio. My better half felt their espresso was the

My girlfriend and I were in the mood for espresso martini's one night and we decided to try Sarto as we drove by. The inside is very cool; brick walls, open space, high ceilings, very city-like. The bartender was friendly and courteous. We got 2 espresso martini's and we loved them. Some of the best we've ever had. The menu looked good and we will definitely be back.

This is an extremely difficult review to write. So difficult, in fact, that I've been avoiding it. The only way I can sum up Sarto is to say this: I don't think I'm smart enough to eat here. I'll explain...
There are many positive things about Sarto. For one, the food is absolutely outstanding. Clearly the chef understands cuisine and how to make delicious food - I don't see how that can even be debated. The Cacio e Pepe pasta is the second best pasta dish that I've had in my life. I could eat a gallon of that stuff and would be happy to do so! The service, decor

We stopped in here for a drink on NYE at around 9:00 pm. We were pleasantly surprised that there were seats for us. The bartender was attentive and was clearly working hard. We had already eaten dinner elsewhere and he brought us an appetizer mistakenly thinking that we were having dinner. We tried to send it back but due to his mistake he offered the app to us on the house. It was a deviled egg with a beet filling and smoked roe on top. I don't eat deviled eggs so this is something I never would have ordered. It was out of this world good!!! We loved the loft-like atmosphere. The little jazz band

Tonight, I had my first experience at Sarto. I can wholeheartedly say that I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sarto from start to finish. The bartender, Paul, was welcoming and helped narrow down the choices on the menu that suited my best interest. He was extremely helpful and was able to explain the crafted cocktails and help me make a great selection.
My friend and I decided to move upstairs to their all new Lounge (which is super trendy and beautifully decorated). I loved that I was able to view downtown from a window and be comfortable on a cozy couch. The vibe in their lounge was great. It

I walked in for an early lunch with 3 other guests and was greeted with a friendly smile from Paul. First initial reaction was how it reminded me of a quaint bistro in Washington DC. We sat at the bar as he was juicing fresh lemons, limes and grapefruits. He explained to us the open kitchen concept in how you can see the chefs make your meal, and helped me decide on a craft original cocktail.
Paul made me "The Jam Band;" A margarita shaken with tequila, fresh lime juice, and a spicy homemade concord grape jelly mix (don't forget the spoon topper). It's just the right amount

Have to compliment the manager, Lindsey. Incredible service, and so knowledgeable about the dishes and wines. Lindsey made the entire evening, and any time I come back to Providence I will visit this restaurant because of her amazing service. I cannot overstate the incredible service at this restaurant, even the chef came to our table to serve our entree and dessert!
Was initially hesitant as nothing from the menu really jumped out at me so went with the 'family tasting'. What a great decision, every dish was fantastic.
If you want to try something a little new, and "approachable high-end" then

We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Sarto Friday night. It was divine. Everything was perfect. The space is beautiful. Even in the pouring rain, it felt warm and inviting. Our waiter was excellent. He was able to give great recommendations and describe items on the menu that we weren't sure about.
I do feel like a minor foodie but we had to Google some items that we were unfamiliar with and didn't want to take up too much of our waiters time.
We started with the Affettati Misti which was delicious. I didn't feel super hungry but the food was all so good that I just kept

We were getting together with friends who like Italian food, and having frequented many of Providence's fine existing establishments, were interested ins something new. After a little Yelp Research (should that be called Yelpsearch or Yesearch?!), I found Sarto, located in the Providence G building, which opened about 6 months ago and boasted some very good reviews. We reserved a table for four on Resy and met there on Saturday night at 6pm.

A group of neighbors went out to Sarto for dinner.
I had called a few weeks before to make sure they would do separate checks. They said yes. When we arrived, the waitress said No, we don't do separate checks. After a bit of conversation, she agreed to split our party of 7 into 3 separate checks, meaning that 3 individual ones would be combined into one check. How hard it is to split checks? I have friends that work in IT for restaurant computer systems and they say it really is not difficult. There are ways to help the customer.
We ordered our meal around 6:15pm....there

We came here for Valentine's Day dinner, I was expecting it to be full to capacity but there were lots of tables and we were immediately served. There was a prix fixe 4 course menu which had enough selection for a vegetarian or pescatarian. We wanted wine pairings but didn't see it on the menu so our waitress was great in creating wine pairing for us for every course. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will be back to try the regular menu.

Such a great addition to Providence! It's not your average Italian restaurant, the menu has such unique options and everything we tried was so delicious. I visited with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and it was the perfect choice. We decided to share a few things from the menu so we could try more. We started with the prosciutto wrapped breadsticks and the Caesar toast, both were excellent. The breadsticks were unlike anything I've tried before, I highly recommend them. The Caesar toast was amazing too - like one big bruschetta with lettuce, cheese, and dressing.

Sarto has a beautiful interior, and the staff could not be nicer. We had a variety of small dishes and a flight of after dinner digestivos, followed by a selection of artisan cheeses, all of which were delicious. This is a special restaurant that I continue to visit and discover more at. Would love a TV at the bar to stay a bit longer and loose the evening in a great game.
