Academic Impact
Founded by Jesuit High School alumni, Academic Impact is committed to the Jesuit tradition of educating the whole person and approaches tutoring and college counseling with an emphasis on the Jesuit value of "cura personalis" (care for the entire person). Academic Impact pairs students with dynamic tutors who serve as role models and provide academically rigorous, personalized, in-home tutorial services.

The college application process presents a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their lives and make exciting decisions about the future. Taking standardized tests seems to be right up there with writing essays as the most dreaded part of the college admissions process. The tests are a great idea in theory.
Services
Our team of talented tutors and college counselors includes Jesuit, Loretto, and St. Francis High School alums and claims several higher education degrees and years of tutoring and counseling experience. Born and raised in Sacramento, Sarah graduated from Loretto High School in 2003, Sacramento State in 2007, and Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2015.
In 2008, four Jesuit High School alums collaborated to create Academic Impact and provide personalized, academically rigorous tutoring. Brian Geremia and Brent Pottenger (both Jesuit '02) tutored full-time for nearly three years, recruiting a small network of trusted tutors and working with students and families throughout the Sacramento area on subject-specific tutoring, test preparation, and college admissions essays.
We pair students with dynamic Sacramento tutors who serve as role models and provide personalized tutoring services. Every student is different: some breeze through algebra, but struggle with geometry; some love English, but find U.S. History daunting; others become overwhelmed with an honors or AP class or overburdened by a demanding class schedule.
We pair students with talented test prep tutors to maximize performance on standardized tests. For better or worse, standardized testing is part of the American educational system.

Whether it's the state-mandated California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress ("CAASPP"), admissions exams like the High School Placement Test ("HSPT"), SAT, and ACT, or competency assessments like the California Bar Exam, students must become familiar with test-taking strategies in order to excel.
The college application process presents a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their lives and make exciting decisions about the future. Unfortunately, the process can also become very stressful with various testing requirements, essay demands, and application nuances.

Our college counselors guide students and families throughout the college application process so they feel confident that they are taking the right personal and practical steps to achieve their goals. Many families and students have access to robust college counseling programs at their high schools, while others struggle to find the one-on-one attention they desire.

I highly recommend Academic Impact! Anyone who knows me has heard me rave about how awesome this company is. They come to your home and take the stress off of families when your child needs help with homework, test prep, and overall study habits. The owners, Brian and Sarah , go out of their way to match tutors with both your academic needs as well as your child’s personality. And if that isn’t enough... they grew up in this area and know all the ins and outs of all of the area schools.

Thank you, Academic Impact, for helping me get into graduate school at Northwestern and USC!
Although I majored in journalism in college, it’s always best to have others review your writing for you. There is no group I would trust more to edit my graduate school admissions essays than Academic Impact.
I was so impressed with their attention to detail and ability to improve the content of my work while helping me maintain my voice and message. Plus, they are unbelievably intelligent people who are passionate about what they do—making the admissions experience seamless and enjoyable.

I just recently signed up for services with Academic Impact, but have found them to be very accommodating and my son says that the tutor explains algebra alot better than his own teacher does. They will go to your home or office for tutoring, which is very helpful. My son really likes his tutor and feels very comfortable with him. I will definitely use them in the future for my other kids, if needed.

The tutors from Academic Impact have made a huge difference in my sons' high school experience. He is more confident in his English and his Chemistry class. His GPA is higher and he enjoys science and math more. The tutors find ways to teach how the child learns best.--- That's what makes Academic Impact an AWESOME program!!! I highly recommend Academic Impact.
