Professionally, I am trained as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and received my degree from Antioch University in Seattle. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State, credential #MC60433939 and I am a member of the American Counseling Association, and the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling.
Personally, I identify as a queer femme and use she/her pronouns. I believe that people are already whole and that what we perceive as our brokenness usually comes from some kind of disconnection from ourselves and other people. Anxiety, depression, a general feeling of loneliness, or feeling unlovable, all these stem from these disconnections.

Services
Because no two clients are alike, I approach each individual from an integrated model of counseling, drawing on a number of theories which I believe inform how people view themselves and how they fit, or do not fit, in the world. I am interested in knowing and working with the entirety of your identities and experiences and helping you to understand them better yourself.
We all come to relationships with our own stories about ourselves, about relationships, and about communication. Melding two people's stories is rarely completely smooth or simple. I am non-traditional relationship and kink friendly and affirming. Stan Tatkin's Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) is the basis of my work with partners.
I have special training and experience working with LGBTQIA identified people, including those at various stages of coming out and gender transition. I also identify as queer and have a transgender partner.
I have a separate section for this population, because I believe it is important for you to understand that although you will still have to teach me about your personal, individual life, you will not have to teach me about LGBTQIA issues or the oppressions faced by this community, both from within and from the outside.Regarding gender transition, I believe in using an Informed Consent model and working with you at a pace that makes sense for you.

While meeting face-to-face in my office is always my preference, sometimes this just isn't an option. Some methods of distance counseling include online HIPPAA-compliant video sessions, or me travelling to see you at your home or other comfortable location. This way of conducting counseling is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Payment is due at each session. Please give 48 hours notice if you must miss a session, to avoid paying for your missed appointment. The first session (after the 20 minute intro) for couples is 2 hours long in order to do a "relationship inventory", a vital part of PACT therapy. I have a limited number of sliding-scale fee slots for individuals with limited incomes or who are experiencing temporary financial hardship.

I adore Jen! She is an inspirational, grounded, and thoughtful person. I have had the pleasure of getting to know her both as a colleague and a friend. She has been a great support and agent of change to the LGBTQIA community as well as supporting a body positive lifestyle. I support and highly recommend her as counselor.
