Services
Portofino is a fashionable resort town crawling with celebrities. Both have very picturesque harbors, great seafood and a relaxing ambiance. Travel guru Rick Steves says that the trail between the two towns is one of the favorites of hikers. The distance is only about 3 miles, or 5 kilometers. Portofino cannot be reached by train, so train travelers disembark at Santa Margherita Ligure.

Salads were amazing, but then they seemed to forget about out main course. It was about 30 minutes after clearing our salads (possibly after the owner/manager heard us complaining) that they brought our entrées. My medium well medallions were medium rare at best. I sent them back and the whole meal was returned meat well done, veggies soggy, and the sauce soupy. Flavor was ok, mainly thanks to the gorgonzola. Other dish was just ok.. Waiter was seen standing near by at several points throughout the evening and never checked on us. No offers to comp drinks or dessert. Nothing. Our first visit,

When I was very young I worked in an upscale restaurant that had a maitre'd who wore a tux every night and had very high standards to which he help us all to. One in of his numerous cliches was "dining is not a meal, it is an event" not to hurry through but to be experience he would go on saying.
Well when you go to Portofino be ready to have an experience and for god's sake chill out, relax and enjoy "The Event"....the food was exceptional and the staff, including the self proclaimed owner were very gracious and professional.
The exterior of the building hides the charm of the interior. Looking

Delightful restaurant! Wonderful service, yummy food. Tonno Puttanesca was excellent. Our server was very attentive, playful and helpful. The owner stopped by our place to say hello! Would go back there for dinner in a heartbeat whenever we’re in Crystal City again. Oh, and bottles of wine are half price if you order before 6 pm!! ;))

Great food and a very nice restaurant! The calamari was cooked well and not the overly battered stuff I'm used to getting. I elected to get the marinara sauce instead if the special sauce and that was very good. The Portofino martini was very made well and I would definitely order it again. I ordered the recommended pesto pasta with shrimp and pine nuts. It was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the meal and the service was great. In addition, the the restaurant itself was nice and the retro tunes were pretty cool. They have their own parking lot in the back and follow all of the pandemic precautions
