Unlike most health clubs, Fitness By Design does not sell memberships. Access to name brand equipment, clean locker rooms, and a bright open area are complimentary. What clients do pay for is expert fitness coaching and personal training instruction. Our certified professional trainers design a workout customized for each individual based on a thorough consultation and screening.

You will find the equipment that you need, from Life Fitness, Nautilus, MedX, Hammer, Concept II, Rogue, Keiser, and so much more. Kettlebells, Med balls, Barbells, etc.all with a personal trainer. Our state-of-the-art facility comes equipped with all of your fitness needs, and a few unexpected amenities.

I believe the body requires diverse movement to develop all of its physical capacities. The training programs that I advocate combine strength, balance, mobility, agility, coordination, speed, and power. This gives my clients the best result for an active lifestyle. No matter what your age or your goals you should be trained in a manner that develops broad physical capabilities.
Rob began his career managing small gyms in the 80's, and began working as a personal trainer at the Indianapolis Athletic Club before the term was ever coined. He opened Fitness by Design in 1989 on Meridian Street and adopted the 30 minute High Intensity Strength Training protocol working all the major muscle groups to momentary muscle failure.
Fitness by Design is independently owned and operated by Rob and Lisa Hudson. The couple have been bringing the best in personal fitness to the Indianapolis area over 28 years. Rob was a personal trainer working at the Indianapolis Athletic Club before the term was ever coined. He opened Fitness by Design in 1989 on Meridian Street.
One-on- one gives you the most personal service. 30, 45 or 60 minutes of personal attention from a Fitness by Design expert personal trainer. We begin with an in-depth Fitness Consultation, then conduct a thorough assessment of your current fitness level and develop your workout plan to meet your goals.
This class is a Vinyasa style flow, meaning we'll be moving between poses more than a typical yoga class. The class begins and ends with breath work. Expect a thorough warmup, some flow, and holding a few challenging poses. Get ready to work and learn about your body. No yoga experience is necessary!

I had purchased an auction basket from a fundraiser I felt this was as just what I needed to get my MOJO back. So I set up my Consultation and first 30 minute work w Tyler. I filled out my online paperwork and went on in.

My energy and motivation level is not much but Tyler talked to me got to know what I was looking for and my goals. I let him know my realistic exercise levels and he was more than happy to work w me in those.

So we did some exercises and he promised to keep in touch until I have my next appt which I think I am going to schedule in 30 days.

I have to say he was great and

I am so glad my personal training hasn't stopped during the Covid shutdown. For the past year I've done two 1/2 hour sessions per week at Fitness by Design. The gym is remarkably well-equipped, spacious and well-run. The trainers are as good as any I've had at various gyms and better than most. Training sessions cost no more than other gyms, with no monthly fee.
My trainer, Adam Shadwick, was always prepared with a new workout so that I got the most out of my training time. He challenges and encourages me in just the right mix. Although I strive for aerobic and strength

I had been meaning to write this review, but am finally getting around to it. I cannot say enough good things about Fitness by Design.

First, a little background. Last year, I was in town and tried to make an appointment. To make a long story short, I never received a response. I was disappointed and made that known. However, I got the loveliest call from Lisa and she told me the next time I was in town, to come back on the house for a PT session.

I have been working with Judi at FBD for about a year and feel better at 49 than I have in years. She and the whole staff at FBD are welcoming and positive. Trainers meet you where you are and workouts are designed around your personal goals and objectives. My wife, who was very skeptical of working with a trainer, has recently joined and is really enjoying herself. I'd recommend FBD for folks who are looking to work hard, be held accountable, and do it all in a friendly and supportive environment.

I wouldn't consider myself as a beginner to the gym - but after how sore I feel after my training session with Rob this past weekend you'd think I was! Rob is an excellent trainer - creating effective, challenging workouts that can be done in 30 minutes. He understands the importance of form in regards to safety, but also knows how certain placement can affect which muscles your movement targets. I felt challenged and encouraged to push further and work through each set. A friend of mine has a session with him weekly and her attitude towards what type of workouts she should be doing has

I am picky when it comes to spending my money, so even before I signed up at FBD I looked around at a lot of different places. When I went in there, I felt more at ease than any gym. They weren't pushy and were really friendly (one trainer who I don't even work out with still remembers my name). They have not BS'ed me in any way to get me to sign up for more sessions, I genuinely want to keep going to reach my goals.

They will talk with you beforehand and discuss what you want to accomplish and literally design a workout based on what you tell them. If you want to go in and get

I've been attending FBD bootcamps for about 3 years. Lisa & Rob Hudson (owners) have created an incredible facility that motivates you to get fit. The gym is extremely clean. Some smell like sweat- as they should a bit, being a gym...but not here. The locker rooms are fantastic and allow you to get ready for work after a workout as comfortably as you would at home. They offer child care and Miss. Karen is loving and kind. The boot camp style is different with each trainer. I love that you can get a variety of exercise and you don't get bored with the "same-old" workout

Jeremy has been a wonderful trainer! I was a little concerned when I started with him because he was young and I wasn't sure he would know what he was doing. But, he is great! He is a good motivator and makes working out fun. At one point at the beginning of a training session, he asked me if I wanted to change my focus and I told him I did. He was able to change my exercises during that session to reflect my new focus. I am very impressed with him and the way Fitness By Design runs its business!
