The Major Funeral Home & Chapel and The Major Cremation & Funeral Center (Alpha Crematory Services) is a family owned and operated corporation. We are centrally located within Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex with our headquarters located in Arlington, TX. The Major Funeral Home was formerly the McGowan Funeral Home which was in existence 45 years.
All of our licensed directors adhere to the highest standard of ethical practices and are committed to ensuring that all of your needs are attended to. Their commitment to the community and genuine compassion toward families are but a few of the characteristics that make them outstanding in their field.
We pride ourselves on the functionality and appearance of our facilities. We are constantly updating and improving our premises and equipment to keep our facility within the highest of professional standards. Whether it is our Chapel, Visitation Rooms, Coffee Lounge, or Reception Facilities, the flexibility of our layout allows us to accommodate a broad range of services.
We believe in actively giving back to the community. The Major Funeral Home volunteers hundreds of hours each year in community service helping to feed the homeless and rebuild economically depressed areas of south Dallas. We have helped to serve Thanksgiving dinners to hundreds of impoverished families for the past 10 years.

Dallas, TX 6/5/2012 - According to the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), the cremation rate in the US has gone from 3.56% in 1960 to 40.62% in 2010. This rate is set to increase to 44.25% in 2015 and 55.65% in 2025 based on projections by the Cremation Association of North America (CANA).
