Ed is the Founder of MANUP and is a Certified Personal Trainer, Motivational Coach, and Expert on Weight Loss and Wellness with over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. He brings a new philosophy to training by combining self-empowerment with real and noticeable results. Always with the ability to crack a joke and make your rough day into a mood change by the end of your session!

Ed was awesome! I was visiting San Diego for a few days and really enjoyed the class. He kept us on our feet but was kind about letting us alter the pace to what felt comfortable. Thank you Ed for a great experience! Will definitely be back when I'm in San Diego next.

I started Ed's bootcamp as a way to begin working out regularly again. I expected to do this for a month or so then transition to the gym/self-directed exercising. After that first month, I knew that sticking with the bootcamp was a better choice. With Ed's workouts, I am able to stay on track and workout intensely on a regular basis. Each day is different and Ed is a master of tailoring the workout to fit individual needs. Even when I broke my toe, Ed was supportive in keeping me fit without pain. Starting my day with bootcamp workouts with Ed has been the best decision. I have been going to Manup Bootcamp for over a year now and I couldn't be happier. Ed genuinely cares about our overall health and fitness and encourages us every single day. I have made some great friends and my overall experience has been nothing but positive. Ed is awesome! I started his boot camp through a groupon and stayed with Man Up for about a year prior to leaving San Diego. There is a variety of age and skill level in his classes, which make it welcoming for anyone. He varies the workouts, so you get to mix it up each and they definitely provide adequate challenge! I would highly recommend Man Up to anyone looking to start boot camp classes. Also, love that the classes take place outdoors!

Man Up Boot camp is a fun way to get into shape outside. I like how the classes are in a couple different locations and everyday the work out varies a bit. Being in the group really helps motivate yourself keeping it a bit competitive, no one wants to be last! There are people in all types of shape so you don't have to feel like the workouts are too hard or too soft. I try and go as hard as I can have attempted to complete the whole week. I'm not there yet but will be soon. Thanks Ed!!

I have been more energetic since I started coming to Ed's class. Even after coming to bootcamp for a few months now, I still find the exercises to be challenging enough to keep me motivated. On top of feeling healthier and happier, I get complements on how my body has changed as a result :) I highly recommend Man up for everyone at all levels of fitness

Ed was absolutely fantastic. For having come into town and joining the boot camp as a guest for a day, I couldn't have felt more welcomed, challenged, motivated or accomplished while traveling for work than I did taking his class. It's too bad he doesn't train in Pittsburgh because I would absolutely be a member. No more excuses! Man up!

I have been using Ed's service as a personal trainer at the gym and this man knows what he is doing. Great to see someone talk the talk and actually walk the walk. I had been off from training for quite some time and needed someone to freshen up the weight lifting with some cardio/calisthenics and this guy delivers it.

Ed is great! He has really helped me improve my strength and conditioning while keeping me motivated. I always have had problems getting myself to the gym but at Man Up I have been consistently motivated and committed to working out. Anyone looking to get in shape or a way to help push them to keep working out I cannot recommend this enough.

For the past two years, I have been attending Man up Boot Camp and it's the Best! I have gone through a body transformation that I can only thank Ed Joseph. The man is dedicated and keeps me motivated throughout my tenure at Man Up Boot Camp.

At first, I thought it was difficult but as time went on the challenging workout routines and mini competitions changed my philosophy. It's addicting and fun! Yes, the pain is good because you see and feel a difference! Thank you, Ed Joseph, you are the man!

I joined Man Up Bootcamp hoping to get in shape and build some definition before my wedding 5 months later. After just a couple months, I felt amazing and confident. A year and a half later, I am still going to class and I still leave drenched in sweat. Ed is a great, personal trainer and an awesome motivator. His classes are as challenging as you want them to be. You operate at your own pace, but I find working out with a group definitely helps push me. If you put in the time and effort, you will improve!

About 1 year ago my husband and I decided that we needed to make a change in our sedentary lifestyle. I found Ed via group-on and signed us up for a 6 week course. After 6 weeks there was no way that we were going to stop. We loved the intense and challenging workouts, we enjoyed the amazing and supportive fellow bootcampers, and most of all we really liked Ed as a trainer and person. This past year has changed our lives. I am the strongest I have ever been and I am still making progress.

Workouts: Intense and challenging, but doable. Go at your own pace. It doesn't get easier, you get stronger

I wanted to get into better shape in order to preserve my back. I tried other crossfit type places, but I felt a lot of pressure to lift heavy weights without any focus on form or safety.

I started training with Ed, and he listened to my concerns and goals, and put together a program that is focused on strengthening the muscles in my back and core to help support the correct posture and help with my back pain.

I would recommend anyone who is looking to improve their overall health, and strengthen their body.

I absolutely LOVE Man Up Boot Camp. I've been attending classes for almost a year, and enjoy them as much as I did in the beginning. The work-outs are always outside, and always different. Ed is an awesome coach, helping with form and providing encouragement when appropriate. Ed runs a great program that uses your body weight and mixes in enough cardio to your heart pumping! The stairs at the convention center location really helps to whip you into shape.

I have been working out with the Man Up Bootcamp for about six weeks and I have lost weight and am definitely feeling more fit. My abs and arms are even getting toned after a very lazy winter drinking lots of red wine! As a runner, I can also tell the cross training through the bootcamp is helping to lower my mile times and keeping my knees and muscles strong to prevent injuries.

I have been training with Ed and Man Up Bootcamp for a while now, I can't begin to describe what a wonderful experience it has been. Ed makes waking up at 6:00am to work out something that I actually look forward to doing. His workouts are never boring, always different and most of all, fun. Every workout is different, and each one is challenging no matter what your fitness level is. From beginners to experienced athletes, everyone will get something out of his class.

Training with Ed's Man Up Boot Camp has been a great experience! I have never been so motivated to wake up early and go work out. His classes are never boring, and he always adds variety to the work outs to keep them that way. He really pushes you to do the best you can and wants you to succeed. During the class he makes sure that you are warmed up, keep good form, and really push yourself while staying safe. Wow...If you are looking for a complete program this is it. Ed is a great trainer, knows his stuff and really cares about your success. Don't get me wrong...He loves ya...but you are still gonna be getting your booty kicked! HARD! People of all sizes, he doesn't care, he is gonna make sure you are safe, work hard and get maximum results.

Finishing up six weeks of bootcamp, just signed up for six more! this intense workout has everything you need in under 45 minutes! perfect if you're constantly on the go, the plan is quite simple: 6 am or 6pm, you choose! the locations are gorgeous, you are working side by side with your fellow bootcampers while overlooking the san diego bay.

Warning: If you like yelling and drill seargants, this is NOT the place for you. if you're into high paced, tailored to you, high efficiency core group workouts, then you've come to the right workout

If you had to choose one workout, training with Ed Joseph of Man Up would be at the top of your list. If you stick with Man Up Boot Camp…I mean at least 4-5 days a week…following Ed’s exercise routines you WILL transform. Talk about motivation…Ed pushes you to your limit and then some…you feel better for it. You have fun doing it because Ed changes out the work outs each time…so no boredom here. I'm generally a runner, but it's good to mix things up and Ed's classes did just that. I participated in his morning classes downtown which alternate stair workouts and park workouts. I find it hard to fit in classes around a busy work schedule, but having a great outdoor class blocks from my place downtown was great motivation to get up a bit earlier in the morning.
As others have said, Ed is not a drill seargent, which is a huge plus in my book. The classes aren't overwhelmingly large, and he makes an effort to get to know everyone he trains. A very motivating way to start the morning.

Great trainer! The workouts burn a lot of calories and strengthen you. It's nice to workout with a very pleasant group of people. Ed changes up the workouts every day so you never get bored. The view is beautiful and there is always free parking available.

Wanted to get into better shape and Ed the owner and trainer of Man Up Boot camp helped me out with that. He comes up with a wide variety of work outs so I never am bored. Plus, its outside so you get the fresh air and vitamin D.

I look better than ever and more importantly I am STRONGER than ever. He even does monthly measurements to keep you in check!

Ed is a great motivator. He trained me the months leading up to my wedding when I was really in a stand still. Not knowing the right exercises or the correct way to eat throughout the day were big challenges for me. He pushed and encouraged me during our workouts and would always give me good feedback to better my workout. He taught me the correct foods that would help build muscle and burn more fat. He made working out actually fun, and not just something I had to do.

Ed is great! I have been training with Ed for over 2 years now and every step of the way, he has been there for me.
