Counting House
Counting House has one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the Triangle and I'm thrilled to be here. Restaurants should be an escape from the real world, especially today. I want my guests to enjoy the time they spend with me as much as they enjoy the food. Jeff Seizer's menu is built for sharing and reflects his love for North Carolina's seasonal ingredients and his philosophy that food should be simply prepared.

Chef Jeff is best known in the Triangle for his time as executive chef and co-owner of the acclaimed Royale restaurant in Raleigh. Prior to that he spent 8 years in New York working in some of restaurateur Danny Meyer's most acclaimed kitchens including Maialino and Union Square Caf. Dining out should be fun.

Great food and art! Love how they do their soft scrambled eggs, and the french toast was amazing. I miss their soft scrambled egg and polenta option that was on their 2021 menu.

Very nice, eclectic decor. Not a huge menu, but the two entrees we had were great. Market fish (salmon) with drunken noodles (which were fantastic!). Staff very friendly. Great option before a DPAC show.

Real trendy spot to get a drink and enjoy the artful space, pasta was made fresh in-house which is always a treat.

The people were nice, drinks good. But the service in general poor. I am sure it is a reflection of hard times, but we waited for over 45 minutes for soggy dessert, then they forgot to give my friend her CC after charging her twice.

This was a pre-show dinner near the Durham Performing Arts Center, conveniently located, and the restauraunt staff made note that we needed to be served and finished by a certain time. The hostess and our waiter were very accomodating so we could enjoy our meal and three (yes, 3) desserts without rushing. I chose 3 raw oysters as an appetizer and we split a dinner entree, the special of the evening- Sea Bass. Each was plated in a beautiful presentation - not just one entree and an empty plate for us to divvy. We don't eat a lot so we generally split an entree or end up with boxes and containers

Came here for our first fancy brunch in a while - delicious and decadent! Monte cristo and biscuit sandwich are both delicious. Breakfast potatoes were perfect. And the restaurant decor is quite entertaining. Got to see some of the awesome 21c Museum exhibits intertwined throughout the restaurant and hotel but will have to come back to spend more time exploring "The Future is Female."

My sweetie took me to Counting House for my birthday celebration.
I was thrilled, because I’ve been missing Jeff”s cooking in DTR since Royale closed.
We had 18 different dishes sent out! Every one of them… was better than the last.
I cannot rave enough about the chef, Jeff, or how amazing his food is.
The restaurant itself is gorgeous and full of art.
And the service is friendly and efficient.
10/10!

Special place. Nice atmosphere. Good wine selection. Food was excellent. Check out open table for more accurate rating. Eggplant Parmesan app was delicious and well presented. Red oak salad was generous and perfectly balanced. Chicken is Smokey and slightly sweet! Must try!

I've been to Counting House a couple times and most recently came with some friends for brunch. The dining room has very unique, artistic vibes and doesn't feel like a hotel restaurant at all. We were a few minutes early for our reservation but still were seated right away.

We decided to get the bottle of champagne - an insanely good deal at just $10 (with OJ too). For my meal, I got the breakfast biscuit. The biscuit was buttery and flaky, and the sausage was nice and salty but not too greasy, the cheese melty, and the egg was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were ok, maybe could

Visited During Mother's Day weekend for brunch and this place was Amazing. The inside art is beautiful and adds great decor to the entire building . They had great mimosas and their food was great all around. I went with 2 picky eaters and my boys loved everything. Best part of the visit was going to the bathroom . Will come back!

Best brunch spot in downtown Durham. Got the Japanese milk bread pudding and the soft scrambled eggs. The bread pudding wasn't overly sweet and the bread had nice subtle milk flavor. Compared to the ones I tried in Kyoto and Tokyo, the bread was more dense, but it did hit all the spots. Scrambled egg was good and the nice thick bacon bits made it enjoyable to eat. Pita bread on the side was an interesting choice and it was the only thing I really didn't like.

Wow!

I have been eyeing this hotel bar for quite sometime but never realized they had a great bar/restaurant inside.

We stopped in here for a good cocktails and an appetizer and we were not disappointed.

We would've had diner here, but we already had reservations somewhere else.

Great spot! I just wish there was more signage for people like us walking by.

Set up reservations for this past Saturday. Decided to pay the $85 a person for my wife and I to have the experience of being taken care of by the chef. We were very disappointed. 3 of the 6 courses were straight off the menu. The main course of pork and swordfish was very dry and basic. It was nice to be "Pampered" but the food was not worth the money. The bar staff was on point though. Thus the 3 stars.

Two stars for bar service ( better experience in the dining room)
So sat at the bar area for an hour at a high top. Service was abysmal. After sitting for 10 minutes without service. I finally got up and ordered at the bar. The female bartender was a bit curt, and when I asked if I should wait for the drink or go back to my table, she reluctantly said someone would deliver it. 10 minutes passed (mind you the bar was relatively empty). No drink, no waitress... then I noticed the bartender finally poured my glass of wine, leaving it at the bar where I ordered. Tired of waiting, I went to the bar

I have frequented this restaurant several times for drinks and snacks but never dinner. The food was fantastic. I had the red leaf salad(with cranberries), and it was delicious, which is a weird thing to say about salad in general. My main dish was flounder which was served on top of tapioca pearls! The flounder was a bit salty, but this was a very creative dish. In addition, I had a drink called splendor solas with rum and leeche. I want to go back there for just that! At the end of our meal, we were served watermelon cotton candy, which was so tasty. I gave this restaurant one less star because

I went to Counting House for a girls lunch as I had a friend in town visiting and figured it'd be cool to see the art in the 21c museum and grab a bite and some drinks. The 21c art and hotel is interesting, and certainly a test of my taste in art (not my favorite but I appreciate it). That said, it was cool to see the vault that is now an area to sit and have some drinks (and I imagine an Instagram goldmine with its dollar bill tiled floor).

The menu looked great and my two buddies had the short rib sandwich special, which they said was really good. We had the deviled eggs because, always

Counting House is set in 21c Museum Hotel that you enter through pretty Art Deco metal doors. The dining room and bar are very modern and decorated with art in this case animal sculptures. On a previous visit it was much less busy and service was good and the food terrific. Food was still very good this time, but we were seated near the bar which was very loud. The service was very good although it seemed that the kitchen was slow as many people were going to a show at the Carolina Theater. The bar is stocked with some great liquor and classic cocktails are good but the house conceived cocktails

Great place to visit if you are at the convention center or staying at the Marriott across the street. I only went to the bar but had an excellent drink called The High Priestess with gin, rosemary, vanilla, cinnamon and lemon. The really cool thing about this place is that it's an old bank and you can go into the basement where the original bank vault is located and enjoy some private space. You can also take your drinks and explore the upstairs art gallery and sit and chat with your friends. Really fun place to chill after a conference or go for drinks if you are staying at the area hotels

Great lunch. I recommend anyone in the area to come into the hotel and see the restaurant for its art alone. The food is also very tasty. I went for Triangle Restaurant Week and it was very good, especially the main course: Kimchi, egg, brussel sprout take on bibambap. I got the pb&j crème brûlée and I wasn't a fan. The crème part was delicious, but the combination with peanut hard layer on the bottom, while interesting, wasn't that good. I really enjoyed the tomato soup of the day as an appetizer. The staff was professional, the restaurant was quiet and clean. Will definitely

I love this place because it's one of the best date night spots in Chapel Hill. The restaurant is located in the 21c Hotel, a spot known for it's cute and iconic pink penguins that are hidden everywhere, some in plain sight. The menu is contemporary, small plates and on the pricier side. I am obsessed with the octopus, my date and I ordered this maybe three or four times I can't remember haha. Their drinks are fantastic but can be on the froofroo side if you know what I mean.

After dinner, you definitely need to roam around at the free art museum in the hotel. They have amazing

Counting House is located inside the 21c Hotel and Museum. The food is phenomenal. The decor is eclectic and beautiful at the same time. I've been to the restaurant several times and never had a bad experience. Each time I get the same thing -- the meat and cheese and the deviled eggs. The meat and cheese is locally sourced from N.C. or another local in a different state. Each season there is a different type of cheese and meat so you will never get the same thing twice. The deviled eggs are not your typical southern-styled eggs. They are mixed in with bacon jam. Very tasty. The drinks are

Really this review is only for the bar. Went last night and had a glass of wine and snack. I loved the decor and random eclectic artwork that was either hanging from the ceiling or walls.

I had a glass of Garnacha, which I don't usually see on menus so this was a bonus. I also grabbed an order of their freshly made pork skins. They were so fresh, they were still "crackling" when they reached the bar. They were drizzled with lime and came with a dipping sauce that tasted like a ranch/sriracha blend. Just enough heat to make it work.

Cute bar! I'll be back!
