I would give this restaurant 4.5⭐️ overall the food was excellent. Good quality, fresh, amazing flavours. The staff was 5⭐️ very accommodating and pleasant.
The only thing that was a bit lacking in my opinion is the atmosphere. The lights were a bit too bright and the space felt like one big room. Only a few accents on the walls. I think If the atmosphere was more authentic and vibrant it would be awesome.

The restaurant came highly recommended to us by another foodie, and let me say I am sure thankful they did.
It is a little hard to find the entrance as it is not heavily advertised but I like that semi hidden gem feeling.
Amazing customer service from every single staff and Tojo himself!
We had booked the holiday omakaze and it was worth every penny, and it was a lot a lot of pennies.
We were asked if we had allergies or foods we do not eat and we said we love everything and so Tojo had a dishes in mind already based on our answers.
Every single dish I wiped the plates or bowl clean and even

I ordered the chicken karaage, sablefish, and Northern Lights Roll. The chicken karaagee, with its citrus soy marinade, had a nice crispy exterior and a mouth-wateringly juicy interior – definitely some of the best karaage I’ve had in recent memory. And the sablefish? Oh my! I think this dish, above all others I tried, highlighted how Chef Tojo is inspired by his native Japan but firmly rooted West Coast flavours. I finished my meal with the Northern Lights Roll, which is one of Chef Tojo’s signature sushi rolls. It is “Inspired by the Canadian Northern Lights” and contains wild prawn

Defintiely the food quality is one of the top in yvr. I opted for the ultimate Tojo anniversary omakase. The price is a bit steep but the flavors were good, along with the mizuki Kobe beef was very good.
Definitely would come again.

Really good sushi. Pricey. But it is what it is. If you are one for the fanciest craziest roll then this isn't for you. But if you are looking for good high quality fish then come here. Some people were here on some classy dates! The washrooms are nice and clean which is always a good sign! We ordered an assortment of sashimi, sushi, tempura and rolls. All delicious.

Came here for a mid week fine dining experience and had the omakase.

Each dish were meticulously put together.

Tuna Tataki - Tojo's signature

Tempura - a nice starter

Black cod with burdock, mushroom, asparagus - wrapped in parchment paper, baked to perfection. I love burdock and the accompaniment compliment this dish very well.

Halibut cheek + scallop + eggplant, asparagus - my favourite dish that evening. Love the eggplant, so flavourful and the halibut cheek was perfect in flavour and so moist.

Assorted Nigiri - beautifully presented.

Mochi green tea ice cream and cream brulee

Phenomenal meal at tojo's. So glad that we came here at a friend's recommendation.

We ordered seasonal omakase for one person and a la carte for the other one. I like this approach so you could try a wider range of items on the menu.

The seasonal omakase was fantastic. I really loved the tuna tartaki, nigiri (The fish quality was exceptional), tempura, smoked salmon & octopus with pickled vegetables, black sesame panna cotta (light and flavorful). On the other hand, the hot dishes was solid but not as good as I expected. Both the halibut cheek + scallop dish and the sable fish

We did the Wagyu omakase at at hefty additional $50/person. Though I enjoyed the meal, the attention to detail, the melt in your mouth deliciousness, I would’ve preferred to have tried the classic sushi omakase and really seen what magic the chef does with seafood vs. a popular beef. Meal was beautiful, tasted gorgeous, service on point.

We had a cozy room near the back that was very private and quiet. The service was good. The food and the presentation were excellent. Some sublime sushi. Even dessert was an experience. First time at the new location. Really like it. Top notch sushi, especially the scallop. Yum.

Tojo's Ultimate Omakase experience will set you back a few hundred dollars for a couple's night out, but was well worth every penny spent. Each service is composed and centered around the freshest ingredients that can be found locally. The variation in flavors was amazing, but harmonized very well from plate to plate.
The Ultimate Omakase normally includes one serving of Wagyu beef (A5 8/10 in our case) and one serving of crab or lobster; as explained by our very helpful waiter. The sushi plate, handcrafted by Chef Tojo himself, was an elegant signature touch to this unique experience.

Always the best in food quality and service. Chef Tojo’s commitment to consistency at the highest quality is what makes this restaurant worth going back to even after all these years. Oddly, I don’t remember their drinks being so tasty, but our latest visit here definitely put those on my radar as well. Definitely try “The Salaryman”

I come in annually with my family, mainly for celebrations of some sort and the expectation if not already recognized is that enjoying this cuisine wouldn't typically be a common practice. Although expensive the staff always remember the exact booth we sit in and the 5 course meals always bring something interesting to the table. I recommend trying Tojo's tuna it is to die for.

The women's washroom has 4 stalls and adequate privacy. Like the restaurant, the decor is simple and clean. The washroom itself is also very clean and the relaxing music makes it even more pleasant. The large mirrored wall and good lighting make it easy to adjust your make up. The faucets are automatic, but the paper towels and soap are not. 4 out of 5 flushes.

Tojo's Omakase is an experience to behold. If you're willing to splurge a bit and treat yourself for a night, this is definitely the way to go—you will NOT be disappointed. Balanced & delicate flavours, stellar presentation, high quality, fresh ingredients, and amazing attention to detail and customer care. Each dish is carefully crafted and thoughtfully chosen to complement the other flavours on the dish, as well as the flavours of the dish that came before it and those that are to follow. I'm so impressed with the experience and would love to come back—maybe once the pocket's a bit fuller

If you are a seafood crazy lover then you must not miss this place. Though expensive but worth enjoying dishes prepared by one of the best japanese chefs in the city.

My friend took me here who himself is a vegetarian but he wanted me to experience it without realizing that i barely eat seafood except prawns.

Their whole seating capacity is quite huge and mix of bar, booths, dinning tables and high tables with couches. Marvellously laid open kitchen where the chefs along with head chef prepare your sushi or ur special dish for you. Drinks menu has everything but most interesting was desert

Of course this place lived up to the hype! Tried the Ode to Anthony Bourdain Omakase menu, which they graciously made gluten free for me. It was lovely. A beautiful mix of flavours that spoke of local tastes, just what an Omakase menu should be. Also, as we are mid pandemic, the restaurant is set up will for social distancing and the wait staff are wearing nearly hazmat suites so I felt quite comfortable.

I have had my fair share of sushi from a variety of major cities, and I have had several omakase experiences. I can honestly say Tojo's was one of the best with excellent service, beautifully curated plating, great selection of Japanese alcohols, and a stunning compilation of flavors. Our waitstaff was incredible - constantly refilling our tea, clearing plates as soon as we were done but not a moment before, explaining each dish, throwing in some free drinks since we were celebrating, and the pacing of the meal was appropriate.

We got the six-course omakase, which was more like eight courses

Everything made here is thoughtful and delicate. Came here for New Year's Eve and it did not disappoint. Started off with the celebration roll- very fresh and the flavours came together very nicely. The star of the show was Tojos Tuna-amazing. The fish simply melts in your mouth. You don't even need to chew it. Well seasoned and so fresh. The marinade was perfect.

This is one of my favourite places for Japanese food. I come here at least once every 3 months. Food is always fresh, service is attentive and spacious and formal dining area. I must agree with many who say it's pricy but Tojo's is a celebrity chef and many things on the menu is unique and invented by him, eg California roll. I recommend their specialty rolls, wagyu beef and uni and geo duck sashimi. Great place for entertaining and I have bumped into some celebrities while dining here!

We have never been to Tojo's but it turns out the restaurant has been around 13 years! It was our first time as we wanted to pick a nice omakase place for a celebration. The parking was mostly street parking.

The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous. We would rarely find a restaurant of this size in Japan but it was definitely very Japanese feel. You have a choice of sitting at the sushi bar (but you have to order the omakase menu) or sitting in one of the tables. We chose to sit at a table because we weren't familiar with the bar experience.

We ended up ordering the chefs special

The omakase was ok, but not worth it at $120 pp. It's a well rounded meal but definitely not worth it compared to many other Japanese restaurants around the city.

Course 1: blue fin wrapped inside napa cabbage.
Course 2: tempura: cauliflower, mashed up shrimp inside zucchini blossom, sweet potato
Course 3: smoked salmon salad
Course 4: roe crusted seabream
Course 5: sablefish wrapped around burdock, mushrooms, mango, asparagus
Course 6: lobster avocado handroll
Course 7: sushi: seabream, yellowtail, blue fin tuna, local tuna, spot prawn
Course 8: dessert: green tea creme brulee
