Sally & Russell Davis both began their careers at the famous Commander's Palace Restaurant in New Orleans; she in Event Planning and he in Operations. From their first date (orchestrated by a Commander's co-worker and friend), they discovered a shared interest in food, wine and hospitality, as well as a deep desire to one day create something special of their own.
In 2004, Russell opened Saltwater Grill in the Riverbend area of New Orleans. It was here that he took the leap from operations to chef - a move he had long been wanting to make. His local, no-frills menu was a fast favorite, making Saltwater Grill a neighborhood restaurant that not only endured, but managed to flourish in the years after Hurricane Katrina.

We are visiting Baton Rouge, and I was so excited to try the gluten free fried seafod platter! I was slightly disappointed that there was so much breading on it. But the seafood and fish was fresh and sweet, once I got some of the breading off.
My husband had the baked Gulf fish, and it was delectable!

We had an awesome experience. The Shrimp Romalaude with fried green tomatoes was a very delicious pairing. We had the Shrimp & Grit and the Rabbit Ragu Pasta. The Grit was so light and fluffy and a wonderful change to the norm. The Rabbit Ragu pasta was on point! We will be coming back soon. And hopefully I will remember to take pictures, because the presentation was beautiful as well.

My wife and I decide to try here for the first time last night after wonderful reviews posted by others. The staff was wonderful, and the food was delicious from appetizer through dessert. I would recommend to anyone and especially to those like my wife, who has Celiac, with a gluten allergy. We definitely will be returning.

Do you want authentic cajun food with a sophisticated twist? Try the unique gumbo with shredded beef in a delicious red sauce and sausage. Then have the perfectly cooked pork chop in a glaze surrounded by sweet potatoes and walnuts. Finish it off with the perfect banana pudding that resembles a bread pudding. Just don't ask for the jambalaya because they'll know you're not a local!

I think this place is very underrated! They have a quaint little patio to sit on, with umbrellas, which is always enjoyable. Also, every single cocktail I've ordered from here is delicious. Their new fall cocktails are wonderful. I've always loved the food I've gotten, too! Great place to hangout with friends, or grab a workday lunch, or even just drinks. I typically recommend this place to people looking for suggestions, because I think this area gets overlooked sometimes! Definitely try Eliza out if you haven't been yet.

On our way to Vegas from Florida and our trip brought us through Baton Rouge. Travelling with my son who has Celiacs is often trying to find restaurants with GF options. So, while driving, my son Googled different local restaurants who could accommodate his dietary needs. Eliza Restaurant & Bar was at the top of the search. We did our cursory research; GF options, atmosphere, and price. We decided to "give it a go". I opted for 2, less expensive, menu items and my son hit for the stars with the pricier option. First time at Eliza today. Went with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We had the tuna dip appetizer and ordered shrimp and grits and the crab cake entree. Everything was so delicious and cooked perfectly. The shrimp and grits was the best I've ever had. Was not full of cheese like most I've eaten and just had a good, creamy flavor. The crab cakes were so full of crab meat and they weren't small skinny little things. They were nice and plump. We certainly enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. We'll definitely go back to Eliza!

I really had high hopes for this place after seeing one of their dishes in a magazine. It is a fancier type atmosphere prices accordingly. I do not mind paying for quality i prefer quality to quantity any day. But overall I was let down on our first trip here. The food all looked great and presentation was nice I will give them that.
The fried green tomatoes appetizer was very good though the remoulade type sauce on it was a bit on the sour side for me especially going on an already tangy vegetable. The shrimp on top were big and cooked perfectly.
