Why are my teeth sensitive? Sensitive teeth often come from the fact that your gums have slightly receded. This recession of the gum line allows the underlying dentin to show through which allows water and food easier access to the sensitive nerve. To manage this, there are a number of toothpastes, gels and even some dental procedures that can be applied.
It is important to follow instructions after you have oral surgery to ensure proper healing and to avoid complications. As a rule of thumb, you should always wait two hours after surgery before eating to let the anesthesia wear off. Trying to eat before this could result in soft tissue damage because you are not able to feel all of your mouth.

I was recommended by neighbors on Nextdoor and the all five-star reviews on Google. But it just didn’t work out for me. I had a filling with Dr Rick, after which I felt constant pain with that tooth. He kindly offered a free redo of the filling, which didn’t help. When I went out for the second opinion, I was told by another dentist that the filling was so deep that it hurt the nerve and I would have to do a root canal to save it. I agree that they’re super nice people and extremely easy to work with, but I’m just so frustrated about all the sufferings caused by that filling.

Very friendly and welcoming father/son office, and their staff is great, too. They get the job done well with low pressure and no nonsense, but have been very glad to talk me through any questions I had about other services and health in general. The office is in one of the underground complexes in Crystal City, so if you're not already familiar, leave yourself some additional time to get your bearings.

This is a long overdue review. I have been going to Dr. Gruntz’s dental office for over 10 years. Their practice has consistently been honest, practical, and caring. I highly recommend them.

I never thought I would say the following statement: I love going to the dentist now! Both father and son are excellent medical providers. I love the laid-back atmosphere and how before any work was done, I received a full explanation of how the procedure would transpire. Glad I found these guys. Jill is a pretty cool lady who I have had some good conversations with while I waited. (but you won't wait long. They are punctual.)

I woke up for the third day in a row with some achy teeth and decided it was time to head to the dentist. I didn't have one in town yet, so like you, I started Googling and reading Yelp reviews.

I could not have had a better experience with Dr. Gruntz! The doc himself answered the phone when I called at 8am and agreed to squeeze me in just an hour later at 9am. He made small talk to set my anxious-self at ease and did NOT give me the scolding I deserved and anticipated for my neglected dental health.

Luckily I walked out with no major issues, but I'll be back in 6 months for a cleaning

Dr. Gruntz (both) is the absolute best, most caring, kind, and nonjudgmental Dentist our family has ever had! Wish there were more like them. The world would be a better place. I have bad teeth, and Dr Gruntz is the only dentist I have ever gone to who makes me feel good about my teeth, and slowly fixes only what is necessary! He answers calls immediately himself! 100 stars!!!!

I have been going to Dr. Gruntz since 2015 and have had nothing but great experiences. I usually see the dad but I have seen the son before too - both of them are very personable, respectful, kind, and accommodating. Jill at the front desk is also very kind, helpful and its always been very easy to schedule. I cant say enough good things about this place - you won't be afraid of this dentist! They make you feel like a friend :)

I've been going to this father-son dental office for several years and have nothing but great things to say about who they are and how they run their business. Comfortable, professional and always about the needs of their clientele. Ask for "Dr. Rick" if you have the slightest bit of anxiety about this stuff like I sometimes do ... he will put you at ease.

I've been coming here for around four years now and I can honestly say that I've never had a dental...or heck, any medical experience better than that which this office provides. I am particularly picky about medical professionals that I choose to frequent and I feel that for some reason in this area in particular, it's hard to find folks who you can tell really care. Both Drs and their assistant Jill are all wonderful people and their care towards each patient is apparent every time I'm here. I've moved around numerous times since my first visit here when I was still

Seen both Sr. And Jr. at this office, both great. However Jr provided the best prophylaxis I’ve ever had, across many states’ worth of dentists I’ve been to. Probably spent double the time a usual dentist would and managed to get many layers of stains off, all as part of a regular cleaning. Would recommend this office hands down

Both Dad Gruntz and Son Gruntz are awesome dentists! My first implant and crown are still great after 5 years. They suggested cosmetic orthodontics on my lower front teeth to improve my smile. I am so amazed at how easy it was, how good my teeth look, and especially how much more confidence I have when I smile! I also ended up with a much healthier mouth. I love how they helped me understand their processes and how they took such care of me!

Hadn't been to the dentist a little while because of anxiety/insurance issues. I had a lot of work done very close together, and I just couldn't take the dentist anymore. Was really anxious, but my friend had used the elder dentist for 20 years so I gave them a try. The younger dentist saw me, and it was such a pleasant experience. We talked about all kinds of things while he cleaned my teeth. I just had x-rays at an orthodontist, and there was no pressure to get more x-rays. He also gave me a recommendation for an oral surgeon and a closer orthodontist. I talked to the elder dentist

I can't rave enough about this practice. The doctors do all the work themselves, they (and the whole office staff) are extremely friendly, and best of all, they have never tried to push any products or procedures on me (like whitening) that I don't need.

Both Drs. Gruntz (the younger and the elder) are terrific. They are knowledgeable and good at what they do, while putting patients at ease. These guys will never try to sell you something you don't need - if you have something that might become a problem in the future, they'll monitor it rather than pushing you to spend money to fix something that doesn't need fixing. Honestly is a welcome trait in this profession, and why I have been coming to these guys for years even though I don't live particularly close.

I live across the street from the underground where Dr. Gruntz's office is. He was recommended by my coworkers and I went and had a checkup and a filling. What an awesome guy. He had me in stitches, making me laugh so hard. He is in practice with his son and his office manager and everyone there are just so awesome. I have only lived in Arlington for a few months and I have had three of my coworkers go there and my wife has an appointment next week. I would highly recommend him or his son.

A great, low-key dental office with two dentists. Good customer service, on-time appointments, and *accessible*. If you need to reach a dentist after hours, you can. I hope I will never need that, but I like knowing my dental office has that level of patient support. Convenient, metro-accessible location. Simple office, but technology where it matters (digital x-ray, equipment, etc.). Honest dentists, quality work. Here, the dentists do the cleaning. They get to know your teeth and don't just breeze in for a 30 second scan during a checkup.

I have gone to Dr. Gruntz for many years. He is honest, does fantastic work and is a great person. Also, he always been super accommodating when I've had a dental emergency. He can make crowns in house which saves me tons of time and he never suggests unnecessary procedures - something that happened when I switched jobs and thought I should get a dentist closer to my job. I switched back. It is worth it to me to go to Crystal City to get great work done. I have worked with both Dr. Gruntz(s) now and they are both terrific. Everyone in the office is great (Jill).

I've been to at least a dozen dentists over my lifetime and Dr. Gruntz's office is one of the fastest, most thorough, and professional! I had a very long and painful procedure done last year out of necessity and I had never once had issues with my teeth or billing. I recently moved out of the crystal city area so sadly, I'll have to switch, but I am very weary.

I've been visiting Dr. Gruntz for about 8 years now. If they don't accept your insurance, they at least help fill out the dental claim form. The office is friendly, inviting and convenient! If you work in Crystal City, you must use this dentist because unlike some dental offices, they are open during your lunch hour.
