West Seattle Animal Hospital is a locally owned small business which provides high quality veterinary services. We realize that each pet and person has unique needs and our staff strives to provide personalized care that is comfortable for everyone. We approach medicine not just with modern technology but also with compassion and sensitivity.
Services
The veterinary field is in crisis all across the country. There has been a shortage of qualified veterinary workers for a few years, but the situation is getting worse. Veterinary workers are suffering from long work hours, stress, compassion fatigue and sometimes depression and other mental health issues.
Just as in human medicine, the individuals who spend the most time caring for patients are the nurses. Our state-licensed nurses are the back-bone of our medical support staff. All five of them have been practicing at our hospital for at least ten years each.
Our nurses are highly skilled in procedures such as anesthesia induction, anesthesia recovery, oxygen and heat therapy, radiology, splint and bandage application, IV catheterization and cystocentesis. In addition, they provide continual care for our hospitalized patients, including IV fluid administration, drug therapy, wound care, nutrition management, and pain control.

Our hospital's reception desk is dedicated to providing excellent customer care.
In addition to scheduling appointments and admitting patients, we will also initiate prescription refills, transfer you pet's records to a specialist, fax a vaccination certificate to your doggie day care, file pet insurance claims, remind you when your pet is due for a visit and give you local resources for finding a daycare, groomer, trainer or pet adoption organization. Our client care representatives are a very kind and caring group of people.

We are located on the second floor of the Jefferson Square office building on the corner of SW Alaska and 42nd Ave SW in West Seattle. To locate our office, look for the digital clock tower outside La Vida Massage and Nikko Teriyaki. Then, head in through the glass doors in the building between the two.
We offer boarding for cats, and are happy to administer medication as needed while they are here with us. Cats must be up to date on their Rabies and FVRCP vaccines to board with us. Cats who are due for vaccines can have an annual exam performed here to have the vaccinations updated. We cannot offer boarding services for dogs.

West Seattle Animal Hospital has really impressed my family 100%. We took our Chihuahua here after another vet in the area kind of went downhill in their business practices.
West Seattle Animal was so very nice, efficient, and knowledgeable. We saw Dr. Johnson, the owner, who was really great with our little pup. His Veterinary Assistant just fell in love with our little one.
They are always friendly and courteous whenever they answer the phone and provide quick and efficient service. They got our dog in in a reasonable amount of time for his neutering surgery as well. Dr. Gomez did the surgery

The order took longer than usual due to their putting together a rather large order for a shelter. They ran out of rice as a result so I had to sub something else. There was only one person working that day for lunch service and one walk in customer walked out due to the long wait times. Others seemed annoyed but stuck it out.
The food was good and so is the service (excepting the long wait). They did not forget my food preferences despite the circumstances and did a good job setting expectations on the food substitution.
I suggest allowing more time on peak hours by ordering online or delivery

My senior dog has needed a lot of extra care and Dr Johnson and Dr Beck have be instrumental with his quality of life. Everyone at this clinic will bend over backwards to help you if they can. The nurses are so helpful for general questions and responsive. Dr Johnson has called and checked in on my dog just to see how he is and was very calming and sincere speaking to me. I know my dog is getting excellent care and can’t thank everyone here enough.

West Seattle Animal Hospital haa been my Veterinarian since 2002.
Unfortunately, today I had to make a euthanasia appointment for my 18 year old terrier. 😕 Something every pet owner dreads. West Seattle Animal Hospital has always been so kind and empathetic with end of life decisions. The pandemic has made it very hard to get into a vet for last minute appointments. I was relieved we were able to be seen within 2 days. The staff is very kind and the Veterinarians are great.
My pet family is very grateful to have found compassionate care. In loving memory of
