John Woodruff Counseling
Often you and I try to navigate our lives by ourselves through our own strength and wisdom which will lead to exhaustion, frustration, worry, shame, and dead ends. During these times we need someone to walk with us, listen to us tell our stories, and travel with us into places we often dread going alone.

I speak to parents, teenagers, small and large groups, and churches on a variety of culturally relevant topics that are grounded in biblical truth. Contact me to find out more. Hardships, loneliness, exhaustion, and attacks often affect missionaries and take them off the field. Biblical counseling is another way for you to care for, invest in, and support your ongoing ministry.
Services
John Woodruff has great insight and care into the hearts of those that he sits with. He has been on the counseling journey for over 10 years, personally and professionally. John is a risky man who loves to sit with people in the mess and celebration of life because Christ does this with him. He has a history of pain and brokenness that brings him tears, as well as redemption, which causes him to suffer and celebrate with others.
As a parent of a child or adolescent, you have likely experienced both the deep joy of seeing your child grow and the insecurity of not knowing what they need or how to meet that need. Often it is this struggle to communicate needs between child and parent that plays a large part in conflict and difficulty.
As a biblically-based christian counselor I hope that you will grow in your ability to experience deep joy and love others in a powerful way. To reach these goals, I will need to get to know you, how you view your problem, and how you relate to significant people in your life.

Because I believe God has built us to be involved in and enjoy relationships with Him and others, we will pay attention to the relationships in your life as we work through the problems you have identified.
Play therapy involves the use of play to communicate with children. In the presence of a caring and accepting therapist, the toys become the children's words, allowing them to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that is freeing. Through this positive relationship the therapist can help children build confidence, social skills, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and to make better behavior choices.
To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.

John is caring and compassionate, and the counseling he offers is guided by Biblical truth and wisdom. The Lord uses John to speak into the lives of people who are dealing with hurt, fear, confusion, doubt ... and it is clear that he cares deeply because of how he listens and responds. Meeting and sharing with John could very well be a pivotal point in your life, or the life of someone you care about.
