We provide two separate courses Monday through Saturday to address your child's specific needs. Some younger or smaller kids may be more advanced, and put into the Big Kids group, and vice versa. It's all about your child's protection, nourishment, and comfort level. Kids as young as four can begin to learn the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu, how to interact in a classroom setting, and how to focus.
Often times in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu you will encounter the argument of which is better: wearing the traditional Jiu-Jitsu uniform, or going with a rash guard and shorts (or spats if you're stylish.). Learning both is extremely important to your growth as a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and in your personal self-defense.

Such an amazing school! The coaches are great at making sure that all the students are learning and following along within the instructions. Everybody is super friendly and no one throws around their ego. 5/5 recommended checking this school out!

My 5 year old son joined mako as an extracurricular activity to get him out of the house. After a few lessons it was so much fun that I joined the adult classes myself. We have been there for about a year. They have a ton of classes so scheduling is very convenient. And the cost is very affordable for all the hands on time you get with bjj black belts.

I've wanted to take up Jiu Jitsu for a while, after finally deciding to go for it, I'm glad I chose Māko. The coaches at Māko clearly have a passion for the art, and they radiate it. It's motivating. I'm new to the world of Jiu Jitsu, but I'm confident, that even with more experience, I'd be recommending Māko.

Mako Bjj is an excellent gym to train the grappling arts. Since I started there in June or July 2020 the experience has been amazing. Top notch instruction, lots of available times to train, great communication and safety especially in reguards to covid. Everyone that trains here brings the intensity without the ego. I tried a few other gyms around Tucson but when I stepped into Mako, i knew that was the place to be. On top of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we also get Judo and Wrestling sessions in. I recommend Mako BJJ for anyone looking to push themselves mentally, physically and make new friends along

One visit to this dojo and you'll realize that this place has a great all around vibe that feels like HOME. New member specials include instruction from not one but two black belts with a strong, proud, and reputable legacy to descend from.
Conversations that I've enjoyed here made me realize that there are people from all walks of life at this dojo and our dreams and vision of creating a jiu-jitsu community are aligned with service and altruism as examples for generations to come.
**new post! Did you know this dojo hosted a 4th degree black belt?! 😲 I have posted pics from a visit (Aug. 2019
