DO NOT go here if you have dark hair. My stylist destroyed my hair. They said they could do balayage on my dark brown hair and, when it didn't lift a lot, they said that they wanted to try again next time with something so strong it would push the limits of what was legal in Massachusetts. Patricia (Zurn) is somewhat new to Mario Russo but not to the Boston hair world. I like to consider Patricia my hair coach. I tell her what my goals are for the haircut and then we talk about what my goals might be for my hair for the next year. My first experience there was with hairstylist Renee, she did my hair color, it was wonderful! She was very nice, patient, and caring to her clients, and she would communicate with me so well. It was all great at the end! The second time I went to Salon Mario Russo, Monica was doing my roots. It was not as good as I expected. The hair came off week, I can’t even use comb to comb my hair and the roots color was darker than the rest of my hair color and her service was awful tower the end. I have been a client at Mario Russo for years now. I go in for balayage and cuts. I have seen Amanda before and Corey and they have been absolutely wonderful. My one star is about how my wedding hair has been handled. I booked to have Corey do my wedding hair and two months before my wedding I get a call saying that Corey no longer works at Mario Russo and therefore cannot do my hair. Fine. I ask for a replacement. Over a week later, and a week closer to my August wedding, I have had to make four phone calls. I have been going to Mario Russo for 10 years. I go to Sal for cuts and Amanda for color and they truly are the dream team. If there's anything people compliment me on, it is my hair and I have Amanda and Sal to thank for this. They are both tops in their field, incredibly talented and nice to boot. I had an appointment with Amanda Johnson to return my fun colored hair back to its original blonde. (I had dyed it white, blue and purple for something fun and new for one summer). To put into perspective how good Amanda is: I moved out of state a few years ago and still book my trips back around when I need to have my hair done by Amanda. She can take 100 Instagram screenshots that I show her and transform my hair into exactly what I want (all while keeping me realistic about what is healthy and will look good.) I have been coming here for ages, and have never been less than thrilled. Sal and Mario are absolutely brilliant, suggesting what will be flattering without forcing you out of your comfort zone. Everyone I have dealt with here has been skilled, professional, and kind. A few years ago, after my fiancé attempted to cut his own hair, I brought him to the salon and the stylists managed to make him look like an adult human again, instead of a started anime character crossed with a neglected chia pet! I've been getting my hair cut exclusively at Mario Russo for almost 6 years; no other salon can compare. My stylist, Leah, is incredible. She makes amazing suggestions and isn't intimidated by my long hair. My whole life, every haircut turned out the same. After finding Leah, I actually have cool, stylish hair. I have already commented many times about how wonderful Gio is ...a true artist cutting hair..the best!!!! So now I want color advise and Gio sends me to Heidi. She did an absolutely fantastic job in changing a lackluster color into my dream color. She is a joy to be with and a true artist as well.

I had a very unfortunate mishap at another salon, where my request for a stylish lob (long bob) was executed into a chin-length hack-job (think bowl cut with blunt edges but longer in the back). Due to the snow, I had to cancel my appointment at the other salon. My mom happened to have an appointment at Mario Russo the following day, so I called to see if they could squeeze me in at the last second.
I miraculously was able to make an appointment with Charlotte and Ini the next day!
Ini is an astoundingly talented colorist. She brought my dull, flat hair to a beautiful, summery blonde. She is so meticulous: she spent so much time making sure every little strand of hair was foiled, to give the color depth and make it look

Maria Lisa is just the VERY BEST in Boston. Form the moment she greets you until the good bye she is such a delight. She is the best colorist I have ever experienced. She just has the magic touch! She works at the Newbury Street location as well as at Fan Pier so she is easy to reach from all areas of the city and surrounding areas. The staff is very friendly and the salon is beautiful.

How do you do less than one star? I saw this place in some magazine saying how wonderful it was. Not the case. The receptionist Rachel was completly rude. She hung up on me multiple times, and did not confirm the cancellation policy. She also failed to confirm my appointment because she didnt even make it. Her overall attitude was disreapectful and very poor, the fact that she hung up on me 2 times was outrageous. And when I did call, I was told by Jeffrey she was a "bright shining star" which was a complete lie because I could hear whispers on the recieving end, & his lies made it

I can't say enough good things about Salon Mario Russo. I've been going there for about a year now and absolutely adore Tatiana! I feel like she really understands my hair and I always leave loving the cut. An added bonus is that her cuts look even better in month 2 and 3. This isn't to say that it doesn't look good right after, but I prefer my hair to have a more grown out look. I also get it cut only 4 times a year so having it look good in month 3 is pretty important!
The only downside is the price. Junior stylists start at $70. However, since I only get my hair cut 4 times

Horrible, no good, very bad blowout. I came here with a girlfriend for a blow out at their blow dry bar before a wedding.... we only rolled the dice because both Blo and Drybar would booked solid.

I showed the woman who did my hair a pic of my dress and asked for a recommendation. She didn't have one really, so I said well, what about a fancy ponytail or something similar since it's windy out? She confirmed that would work with the dress and my hair and got to drying. I went about my business for a bit then looked up and saw a HOT mess on the side of my head. When

I highly recommend "LEAH" at Salon Mario Russo for a FABULOUS CUT FOR LONG HAIR! I wasn't sure what I wanted done, and she confidently made suggestions that worked well with my face. Her relaxed and social demeanor made her easy to talk to, so I had no problems speaking my mind, AND she didn't seem to mind a bit when I asked her to 'cut a little more to frame my face,' after she was done cutting.
