The U. S. Wushu Center (Chinese Martial Arts) is located in NW Portland's Pearl District at 1425 NW 16th Avenue, where we have been operating for over 25 years, bringing you the very best in martial arts training. We offer in-depth, professional training in Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Qigong).

The U.S. Wushu Center, Inc. was originally founded in Portland by Master Sh own Yu in 1992. Master Sh own's goal was to create a school of genuine quality where Masters could share the benefits of Chinese Martial Arts. He was joined later by Master Go, Jimn, a 32 gold medalist in international competition.
Services
Our Center operates Monday through Saturday and schedules classes for students of all ages at all levels of proficiency, from complete beginners seeking ways to improve their health to advanced students seeking competition-level instruction. Students at the U.S. Wushu Center pay a monthly fee which entitles them to attend appropriate-level classes as frequently as they wish.
We believe that for children to be healthy and happy, and to excel in their education and other activities, they need a strong foundation. This foundation is based upon a healthy diet, plenty of exercise, good language and math skills, self-discipline and a constructive attitude. This is the traditional Chinese approach to raising children.
Tai Chi (also known as Taijiquan) is a Chinese martial art whose legacy dates back to the early 17th century. The name Taijiquan translates as "Supreme Ultimate Boxing" and is considered the highest form of martial art. Tai Chi is based on the cultivation of one's internal energy or Qi (pronounced Chee) rather than on external physical strength.
The School offers classes for students starting at 4 years of age at all levels of proficiency, from complete beginners seeking ways to improve their health to advanced students seeking competition-level instruction. Students at the Center pay a monthly fee which entitles them to attend appropriate-level classes.
Our instructors are passionate about martial arts and share important lessons around discipline, fitness and focus - while demonstrating healthy lifestyles and a passion for their training. Students learn in an inclusive, positive environment as they improve their performance in class and in their daily lives.

My son started practicing here last September. He was always interested in Kungfu and he finally gets to do it. He loves the masters and the school so much. They are patient and loving, we highly recommend this school.

I've been attending this school for years. The quality of teaching and the level of detail that you can get from this school is amazing. There are 4 teachers from China who grew up in the Beijing wushu team, which includes Master Gao Jaimin who is considered to be the foremost female Tai Chi practitioner in the world.

My kids have been taking lessons here for 3 years. The teachers are patient and excellent. The kids get a chance to practice being disciplined in what they do. It’s also good for their body, and confidence. Definitely recommend!

My wifes account, but here it is:
I've been taking classes from Master Gao Jaimin, Yu Shaowen, and the masters they have brought in, like Master Xia, for 9 years. They are world class. I started at 33 and weighed 300 pounds, I am now a black belt. I'm still the biggest student, and among the oldest, but am learning legit, traditional wushu from incredible masters. My point is, if you have any doubt, if I can do it, so can you.
Beyond that, you will become a part of a community. I have made deep connections with my fellow students, young and old, and even their parents. This keeps me coming back

Very positive and professional environment. For a few years, both our boys took the Wushu class and my wife and I took the Taichi class. We all had a great experience.
