Dakota Cafe
Mitch and Kelley Cook have created something special here at the Dakota Cafe. The husband and wife team started this business in order to spend more time with each other and it shows; their smooth synergy is felt by customers and employees alike. Kelley's passion for cooking and innovation in the kitchen has been a life long love affair.

For several years she taught as a Culinary Arts instructor at a vocational school in Seattle that focused on teens that struggled in classrooms of traditional high schools. The experience was tough but rewarding. Our school had a functioning restaurant that was open to the public where the local community would come in for meals.

Such a lovely quaint relaxing environment. Have been here several times and each time the waitstaff is friendly and happy, the food is fantastic. The entire ambiance is wonderful. This is my go to for breakfast in E-Burg.

A favorite spot for years. Food always has an exceptionally good surprising flavor, combination, or presentation. Delicious. Too bad we were here late today--baked goods mostly gone.

Go here every Saturday morning. I like the music its a peaceful vibe and is pretty pricey. Food, is a great price if you get day old. I recommend this for everyone!

Really fresh and very tasty breakfast. We had the eggs, bacon, and potatoes and added avocado and toast. It was delicious. The staff is very kind and we can tell they care about their service and quality of the food. Casual and comfortable environment with tables of senior citizens, families, and younger people as well.

The Dakota Cafe catered our breakfast and lunch for a conference we had in Ellensburg! The food was scrumptious from their cranberry scones to their warming tomato soup. Our attendees raved about the food! Mitch and Kelley were wonderful to work with and very friendly! Will be back!

This is a decent spot for a night out. The goat cheese appetizer and the steamer clams were decent. The wines are not expensive. It's quiet and well lit. It was nearly empty for the hours that we were there so we thought it was odd that they made a deal out of us not having a reservation.

Very good spot for lunch. It's a great location and has a great vibe. For the most part we had a very good meal. Focaccia could have been fresher, a little hard and I would have liked it warmed up. Yes, we will be back, they have a great varied menu.

Basically a sandwich bar with a few tables, not really a serviced cafe. I had a nice Kale salad and a yummy smores bar and my husband had a Chipotle chicken sandwich with a cup of soup. All for 30 dollars so quite reasonable

Ordered sandwiches here. They were out of avocado. Instead of telling us they just made the sandwich without it. When we asked where the avocado was they just told us they were out. Basically they just tried to sneak it past us. They offered no solution. Just an awful experience. Sandwich was super-dry without the avocado.
Also they don't know how to make Iced Tea. Super-astringent over-used tea bags. Like if you used Lipton bags a second time or for way too long.
If you want someone to lie to you and super-cheap out on silly things like teabags I say go for it, otherwise maybe skip to someplace

My daughter, her girlfriend and myself had dinner together at the Dakota Cafe. All of our dinners and salads were delicious! Our waitress was attentive and checked back to see how we were doing and if there was anything else we needed. We will definitely stop in again.

Good place for a relaxed, calm opportunity to enjoy lunch. Proper portions. Go have a nice sandwich. Note: no deep frier, so do not expect fries :)
You should stop by and give it a try. Also has some gluten free options.

We accidentally found this place after looking for another place. Mitch was our waiter and very pleasant. My wife had a tofu vegetable plate and I had a large house salad. Both were delicious.

Went in hungry and left hungry. I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I will give this place another chance in the future.

Service was good but it's confusing how or where to order? who picks up or delivers the order? etc.

My sandwich was a total joke. I've had better at mini-marts wrapped in plastic. The $8 sandwich was so basic that it only had stale bread, cheese, processed meat and way too much lettuce. I had to go back and ask for mayo & mustard. They told me to use the packets on the counter. Really?

I also had a lemon cake for $2.00 that they forgot to bring me so I

My wife and I looked forward to eating at this restaurant. We have a small registered service dog for our developmentally delayed daughter and the owner actually told us that we had to remove our dog from his establishment. He said he was the owner but didn't even give his name. With the way we were treated I definitely wouldn't go back.

This place has lots of potential. The food they do serve is good, but not great. I've liked the quiche for breakfast. They have wifi -- ask the cashier for the password. They have diet Coke (my drink of choice). The ambiance is gorgeous.

Here are my suggestions:
1) For breakfast: Bagels. Get some good bagels and serve them for breakfast. And open earlier -- 7 am.
2) Warm sandwiches for lunch make people happier to pay more.

So when my sister and I wandered into this joint after walking through a foggy and frosty downtown Ellensburg, we were both surprised at the emptiness.
Naturally, as an urban juror, I was disappointed to see the large and lavish dining area not seating......... anyone.
There were no customers in the deli, which wasn't going to stop me because I truly had to use the restroom and I simply wanted coffee for my journey back to Seattle.

The first fun thing that happened was the cashier made a snobby remark about their coffee being much better than Starbucks because Sbux burns their beans and is

This is my wife and I favorite place to eat out in town. I have had a number of dishes here. Tortellini, Prime Rib (on Fridays), and lamb and all are amazing. My wife loves the Puttenesca and Halibut Mango Salad.
Love the owners. they are always super friendly and great to their customers.
A must try if you are in town
