Over the past decade, Turning Sun has evolved into a movement to improve early childhood programs everywhere. In addition to helping hundreds of students each day explore, learn, and grow, we inspire our families and other schools. With four schools in metropolitan Atlanta, Turning Sun offers care between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm for children ages 3 months to 5 years (schedules and ages may vary between campuses).
We are an open, affirming, non-religious program that welcomes all types of families. Our play-based curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. We embrace the natural world and our local community, which means we go outside every day, rain or shine.

Services
Turning Sun welcomes ALL types of families and individuals. Our school is open and affirming for all ethnicities, faiths, orientations, gender identities and expression. To maximize inclusion, we build our year around seasonal celebrations rather than specific religious or cultural holidays. We strive to create an environment free of bias which demonstrates equality for all.
Early childhood education is broken. In our haste to prepare children for elementary school and adulthood, our world rushes to tell them exactly how to think and act. But during these few precious preschool years we have a window of their lives to allow them to just be themselves, as kids, without comparison or judgment.
TSS provides meals and snacks that are nourishing, wholesome, and served community-style to promote life-long healthy eating habits. All TSS campuses currently provide daily vegetarian snacks and most will soon include vegan snacks and lunches as part of tuition (check each campus page for details).
Children have a right to a good school - a good building, good teachers, right time, good activities. This is the right of ALL children. TSS Clairmont is filled with natural light from huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking our outdoor spaces. Our building is surrounded by 12 acres of forest with trails that wind through azaleas, over a bridge, and end at an amazing creek.

TSS East Lake features TSS' largest Atelier (art studio) which has huge, built-in light tables, open spaces for yoga and dance parties, and cozy nooks for small group materials exploration.

Report
Staff is good and engaging with children. I would warn working parents about TSS. "Full Time" is considered 0830-330 which does not coincide with more conventional business/work hours. They seem to have staff meetings every few weeks which they schedule at 130pm and force you to pick up your kids 2 hours earlier than normal (instead of scheduling them after 330pm). Of course you pay tuition by the month, but they certainly are not pro-rating their tuition for all the time they seem to have early pick-up or are closed for holidays/breaks. They do publish their school calendar on the parents' site
